“Quiet Gem on the edge of the action”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

Stayed here 2 nights after a cruise. The location was excellent; close enough to the action, yet not close enough for the noise! Easy access from the cruise ports via the Alilaguna Blue line water bus (take to the Arsenal stop - turn right walk over 1 bridge and your standing in front of the hotel). The hotel itself while small is cozy and quaint. Quiet rooms with canal views, a delicious free breakfast every morning. Desk staff that were all friendly and helpful in recommending dining options, info for tickets or simply arranging onward transportation. From the hotel it's an easy 5-10 minute walk to St Mark's square. Would easily stay here again as well as recommend to friends and family!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 403 - A small room with an amazing view of the canal all the way to St Marks Sq.

We were really impressed with this hotel. It was small, quiet, comfortable, and a great value for the money. It is a little off the beaten path, which meant that it was quieter than some of the other hotels, but still only a short walk away from St. Mark's Square. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were comfortable and the views were phenomenal! I spent a lot of time researching Venice hotels, and was really excited about staying here. We were not disappointed. In Venice, you could easily pay a lot more and get a lot less!

Stayed for two nights while in Venice on Honeymoon. Close to water taxi drop-off point. Breakfast was wonderful and very varied. There is a nice lttle restaurant/pub and ice-cream shop next door that you must try. Reception was very friendly and helpful. Room had a good view of the dock. Short walk to San Marco Square.

Of all the places we stayed during our 2 week trip to Italy, we found Venice to be the most difficult. The reviews were mixed on hotesls; the places we wanted to stay were already booked; we were nervous about not getting a good value, etc. So, we ended up booking Bucintoro despite the fact that a couple of reviews were not positive. Having now visited Venice and stayed at Hotel Bucintoro, we thought the hotel was perfect.

One of the biggest issues of Venice is hauling around your luggage and actually FINDING your hotel. Hotel Bucintoro is really accessible because you can take the water taxi that travels the outside of the canal (route 41/42) and stops at Arsenale. From this water stop, its literally about a 1-2 minute walk to the hotel.

Some reviews state that the hotel is a bit off the beat and track. If you're in Italy, you're going to be walking. You can get to the major town square in less than 5 minutes. That works out to be an advantage as there are SO many tourists in Venice. Having a hotel that is not in the thick of things we found to be advantageous.

Yes, the rooms aren't huge but by American standards, very few rooms in Italy are. But, the room was bigger than our hotel room in Rome! In terms of view; some reviewers didn't like big boats blocking the view. Quite honestly, how much time do you spend in your room? We thought the view was fine.

Per previous reviewers, we thought the breakfast at Bucintoro was great. It was the first hotel that we actually found cut up fruit (we're spoiled as we're from CA!).

We also found the service to be very good and the hotel manager very helpful.

If we visit return Venice, I would stay here again.

My husband and I just got back from a 10 day trip to Italy. I booked this hotel based on all the amazing reviews and when my husband and I got there, we couldn't believe what it was! The hotel is a super tiny at best 3 star hotel for 5 star prices. When you walk in, you can barely get your luggage in behind you b/c the front desk is a foot away from the front door. My husband and I stayed at a 4 star hotel in Florence (Hotel Lugarno) for 100 euro/night less and it was beautiful and luxurious and this hotel was total crap. Similarly, we stayed in a 5star in Rome (Sofitel) for 40 euro/less a night. I know Venice is more expensive than any where else but this premium is ridiculous for what you are getting. Sorry. The staff was nice but this hotel was so low budget. I really don't understand all the amazing reviews. Our room was the size of a closet. A little over 200ft. I can go on and on but if you are used to 4 and 5 star hotels, you will not like this place. This was the lowlight of our Italy trip.

My wife and I absolutely loved this hotel. The room, staff, and location were perfect. The rooms have a nautical theme which for some reason just feels right for the location.

We also had a nice breakfast included and it provided a good range of food. Can't ask for more in a hotel!

We thoroughly enjoyed our early October stay at the Hotel Bucintoro. We are two couples - one of us had the room with the roof top deck. That was SPECTACULAR! We were thrilled to have spent the extra money to book this room. It added a dimension that made the stay 5-star. Staff of the hotel were outstanding. The breakfast was quite good & the morning breakfast staff tended to our every need. (Thank you)! The only complaint about our stay was that our room was dark. Lighting was not great - and w/ our "older" eyes, at times it was difficult to see. There was only one window (a porthole) which resembled a ship. Cute, but dark. We were thrilled that the weather was perfect (70's & sunny) so we could easily sit on the roof top deck. The hotel staff were quite helpful & accommodating. The location was quiet & easy to walk (or take the Vaporetto) everywhere. An excellent 3-night stay in a fabulous city. We cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: If you can afford the extra for the rooftop deck, it is worth it!
