“At a good price, it's fine.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

I spent a night here at a Booking.Com rate of 80 euros. The hotel is just around the corner from the Accademia. It's a bit run down but not overly so. By room had some plaster coming off the ceiling but was otherwise clean. The bed was clean with a firm mattress and the bathroom was clean and functional. Everything was budget-like including breakfast which was unremarkable except for the lovely garden outside: that was wonderful. So, under a 100E a night for one or two people, this is fine.

We booked 2 nights here on 6th May following a cruise. We arrived to find the street outside was having pipework relaid, which extended for some distance on either side of the hotel and created horrendous smells and construction noise. Work appeared to have been going on for some time and continued after we left but at no time were we informed of this which would have enabled us to re-book elsewhere.
We booked on the basis of room with ensuite, satellite tv and aircon. There was no satellite tv and the aircon to all rooms was apparently switched off. The rooms are minute and get very hot at night so aircon is essential.
The rooms are essentially singles, masquerading as doubles with a king sized bed in an 8ft square space with a broken chair and a wobbly table holding the small tv (Italian stations only!) Although there was a small wardrobe there was nowhere for cases so these were in our way all the time and had to be negotiated.
To add insult to injury, the door handle fell off the toilet and we therefore had to keep the door open to prevent being locked in.
There were no fire instructions anywhere in the room neither were there any hotel details.
We complained to several receptionists who were rude and unhelpful and finally the manager but he was extremely obnoxious and unhelpful. Australian and American guests in reception at the time informed us that they had also complained but had got nowhere.
We paid E385 for the 2 nights (almost £150 per night) and even though Venice is expensive, we felt that this was exhorbitant for the standard of accommodation.
Please do not be swayed by its convenient location and pretty garden. This hotel is a dump and for a few pounds more you could stay in a really nice hotel in Venice! Shop around!

Room Tip: Book at another hotel!

We went to this hotel with high hopes but were very disappointed. Though the location was excellent, nothing else lived up to our expectations. The staff was dismissive and at times out right rude. Though the hotel advertised newly renovated rooms with air conditioning and Internet, there was no air conditioning, in fact we were told they were waiting for a permit. The was a charge of 5 euros for Internet and it did not work in the bedrooms, only in the lobby and patio. The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in and the blankets on the bed were dirty. This hotel is very overpriced for what you get. It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

We just spent 5 nights at this hotel which is well located near the Academia, though it is located next to a school. The managing staff, front desk, and morning coffee matron were some of the most surly hotel staff on the planet.
They were rude. inattentive, and tended to answer no as their first choice, when they finally got around to acknowledging you. The front desk was consistently the worst. After 2 days, we were joined by our tour group who also all had the same experience. One can put up with tiny rooms in Venice but there is no need to pay for the awful attitude.

Given the low cost of our stay we did not expect too much but we were very pleasantly surprised by the Belle Arti. We have stayed in Venice several times at much more expensive hotels but this was equal to them. There is a lovely garden courtyard area and covered walkway with seating leading to the hotel entrance and it is well situated close to the Academia Bridge. Bedrooms are clean and in traditional Venetian style - but beware; the hotel advertises satelite TV in the rooms but all we had was 5 Italian stations i.e. nothing in English. A kettle in the bedroom would have been appreciated. There is plenty to choose from at breakfast although the dining room can be a little cramped at busy times. Overall rating is very very good.

I was pleasantly surprised with this Hotel. It is amazing! Nice location, nice garden, nice service, excellent price! The rooms we got were amazing. They had a terrace and after walking so much through Venice it was really nice to go rest in the terrace with a glass of Bellini!

In the entrance it has a really nice garden. Everybody that passed by the hotel could not resist to look at the lobby and the garden. When I was in my Holidays in Venice I had the bad luck that I had to work for a couple of hours and I was working while sitting in the tables at the garden. I make my work so pleasant!

The location is excellent, just behind the Accademia and short distance to the Plazza San Marcos.

I want to return to Venice and I will definitely book in this hotel again!

This was our third trip to venice so we knew what to expect, we never go with a huge hotel budget as we're hardly in our hotel. If you want to pay through the nose for pure luxury then go for it, but you wont get a better reasonable priced hotel than this in venice.
The area was brilliant for us and quite easy to get to, jump on the vaporetto (water bus) at the train station then get off at the academia stop then your literally a short walk to the hotel. The entrance to the hotel is quite grand & the outside breakfast area is also nice. The room was what I expected, it was bright venetian in style. The furniture & size was adequte, we had a small juliet style balcony that over looked the court yard. The room had an electric window shutter which was good for keeping the heat out the room when we were out, the room also had air con. Breakfast each morning was plentiful & adequte, it was lovely to be able to sit outside & eat. We would definitely stay here again.
