“Simply wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

I spent two nights in Hotel Saturnia and the experience was amazing. The hotel is located just a short walk away from St. Mark's Square, which is the center attraction in Venice, and even closer to the Grand Canal. It was an old palace so everything inside is decorated as such; even the staff's dress code meets the era of the hotel.

The staff is very attentive, always looking for ways of making your stay more comfortable. We even got a complementary trip to Murano, which was very nice. The breakfast has a wide variety for people to choose. Also, they provide you with a map of Venice and direct you to points of interest and good restaurants. They also have a special offer for gondola rides, which is slightly less expensive than outside.

The room we staid in was spacious as well as the bathroom (we were three in the same room) and it was all very clean. The showers was slightly small for my father (6' 2'') but nothing that was uncomfortable.

**ADVICE for anyone that goes to the hotel: The hotel has its own private canal that taxis can bring you to. We took public transport that left us at St. Mark's Square and we had to haul our luggage through the town, up stairs and through tourist groups. Its way easier with a taxi.

Room Tip: You can ask with anticipation for a room with view to the canal

Just spent 3 magical nights in Venice with family (mom, dad, and 22year old) and loved Hotel Saturnia. We got a triple room, which was a huge spacious room with a queen size bed and a twin bed. We asked for a canal view but none was available, so make sure to ask in advance when confirming your stay. We also would have liked a higher floor since we stayed in room 101, which was on the first floor and was a little noisy. There is a phenomenal rooftop terrace so make sure to check it out!! It is a nice place to go and relax before dinner and have some wine. The breakfast was included and ample for us ( coffee was great, fruit was so sweet and fresh, yogurt with toppings, lots of sweets and breads). The service was phenomenal in the breakfast area and at the concierge desk (warned us of the Vaporetta strike, gave us tips, and was patient with our crazy questions). The location is the best! Super central to San Marco and other sites. We would recommend going to Lido for half a day, doing Doge's palace and just exploring the streets. The only challenge is getting to the hotel just because if you don't take a private water-taxi from the airport (over 100 euros) you have two foot bridges to cross with luggage. We loved this hotel and would definitely recommend it!!

Room Tip: Pick a higher floor and ask for a canal view in advance

Just finished a 2 night stay at this property. The location was great! The breakfast, also great! They had lots of choices and the wait staff was very attentive! The room we were in was a disappointment. The bed was extremely "springy" and uncomfortable. The bathroom was old and my husband, at 6, 2" struggled in the small shower!!! To the hotel staff credit, when we asked to change rooms it sounded like they would have done so, however we waited to long and all the rooms were then occupied. My husband also informed the staff about the bed and he sounded genuinely interested in the feedback and said he would relay it to his manager.
Overall, a good stay!

The first stay was with my grand daughter, later joined by my husband, daughter & grandson 6 years ago.At that time we were treated like royalty.Superb accommodations and staff that were ever so attentive. The breakfast in the garden was a most delightful start to the day.The location is amazing. The hotel also has an excellent restaurant for evening meals - during the summer, outside in the garden beneath the stars. Mouth watering dishes served with the utmost elegance. Since then my husband & I have returned twice. Each time being received with a most welcoming warmth. This last time unfortunately I became ill. The staff were incredible with the care & treatment they bestowed on me. I can only say that I felt their genuine concern as they did everything to make me comfortable.Yes ~ I will go back !

Room Tip: Tell them what you would like ~ they will accommodate you - we wanted a room with windows on the can...

Located on one of the nicest shopping and walking streets in Venice and just steps from Piazza San Marco, this hotel is made up of a number of older palaces fully updated with a host of unusual room layouts. Full of atmosphere, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating in a private courtyard. The bar is cozy and comfortable, the breakfasts extensive and the staff is extremely caring. The hotel features a small rear entrance allowing guests to arrive and depart by water taxi - a special treat in this city without roads.

The hotel is in a great location was clean and nice.

A few negatives (a) the beds were 2 single beds stuck together but with separate bedding. Horrible. (b) the free breakfast is an abomination (c) the concierge tries to convince you to go on"free" your to Murano where they try to sell you glass at inflated prices.

Other than those points it always good. Go up to the roof for a view.

My husband and I have just returned from staying at this hotel on our first trip to Venice. We have nothing but good things to say about it. The hotel's location is second to none, as are the staff who were extremely helpful with their advice and information. Our room was one that overlooked the canal, which gave us the opportunity to see and hear the gondolas going past, some of which contained not only a singer but also an accordionist! Delightful! Our room did have low energy lighting which made it difficult to read in bed, but this did not in any way diminish our enjoyment of the whole experience. It was my wife's birthday while we were there, and on returning to our room in the evening, we were delighted to find a bottle of wine to enjoy in celebration. Venice was everything and more we could have wished for and we will certainly return, not only to Venice but also to Hotel Saturnia. Thank you all for making it special. K&J

Room Tip: Our room was number 57
