My girlfriend and I were backpacking around Europe last year when we stayed here, eventhough we were on a budget we recognised that Venice is Venice and we should splash out per say on accomodation and not have to share and dorm room in this romantic city. We believe in bang for buck and our search found that Ca Formosa was indeed bang for buck, they had an economy room and the pictures looked good.
We had actually booked Ca Formosa which is around the corner, the sign on the door tolod us to check him at Ca Malipiero, when we checked in we were told that this is the hotel we would be staying in, which seemed fine because the reception area was very nice.
However the room was infact the attic (see attached pictures), it should've been a storage room not a room for people to stay in. Now we're budget travellers, we've stayed in some shocking places but at least we made that decision. We did not believe we were booking this room! So it was totally misleading and made our Venice trip a little less enjoyable. When we complained to the manage about this he was very rude and condescending to my girlfriend, perhaps because he was Bangladeshi and doesn't have as much respect for women that Westerners do. I felt like punching him out for the way he was talking to my girlfriend.
Even funnier was that he said noone had ever complained about this room, a room which i couldn't walk in half of it because of the low roof (i'm 180cm), he said that tall Germans stay in there and they love it. HA!
I'm still going to give a balanced review eventhough we had a bad experience here. The bed was good, it had air conditioning, a fridge and a good location. Shared bathroom.
Regardless I'd definitely not recommend you stay here, especially in the economy room aka attic, a 78euro a night attic.
Avoid the economy room aka attic.
