The Hotel Carlton Capri is in the most convenient spot, a short walk to the main areas of Venice. The hotel was very comfortable and clean and I would recommend it to anyone. The only slight negative, the staff were not exactly helpful, the night guy in particular was totally incapable of smiling! Dont mind them, get a map and you will enjoy!

Horrible experience. I travel to Europe every summer and stay at a lot of hotels. This was my worst experience yet. We had 2 rooms at the Carlton Capri. My daughters stayed in one. They had seen a bug or 2 during our stay but on our last night at 10pm, the room was swarming with hundreds if not thousands of bugs. They were on the walls, the windows, the bathroom, the floor and in our luggage. I was absolutely disgusted. I went to complain at the front desk. He came to our room with a can of bug spray. I explained that my daughters could not sleep in that room. He said he could not give me another because they were full. We checked out of that room then and there. All 4 of us slept in a queen size bed in one of their tiny rooms. We had a 6am flight the next morning. On top of all that, the Carlton Capri would not reimbursement us for the night that the room filled with bugs. They charged us for that room. Save yourself the heartache. Avoid this hotel.

The location can't be better. Very close to Piazzale Roma (busstation) and railwaystation. Boatline to Rialto and Piazza San Marco at a few steps.
Due to its location in a side street (just behind the Canal Grande) its a very quiet environment.
Prices are average ( Venice is an expensive city !) but you get value for your money.
Rooms are rather small but very clean and the personal is vey friendly.

My partner booked this as a birthday present for my 40th and paid a lot for it. But unfortunately and contrary to the pictures posted to their website, our room was ridiculously small and for some unknown reason unbelievable hot , during the day and unbearably so at night, Even though first day there was quite cold and the second average/pleasnt. We asked for another room but was told they were all the same. This is obivously not true as some of the reviews already posted show, many were large and very comfortable. The"bathroom" was no more than a cupboard with a shower in the middle that soaked everything when you tried to use it. It was stiffling with the door closed to use it as there was no window and towel rail was constanly on. We had to sleep with the window wide open to get some kind of air at night and this of course resulted in us being covered by mosquito bites. We were only there for 2 days and were very disapointed by the accommodation including the early morning workman from about 6.30am who were outside our window banging and drilling. The person on reception said they didn't start until 8.00am but again this was not true. Seems they pick and choose who to give good rooms to and therefore I would not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a decent place to sleep or rest from a sightseeing in venice unless they are prepared to take pot luck with their accommodation. What was supposed to be a romantic and special birthday treat turned out to be a great disapointment and left us releived to be home again today..
