“Amadeus Hotel Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Just returned from a 4 day break at this hotel. Excellent!. Very old property and maybe rooms need re-decorating but the staff were very helpful & friendly. Breakfast excellent - lots of choice including bacon & eggs, good enough to set you up for the day. Fabulous location very close to railway & bus station. No hesitation in recommending.

Room Tip: We had s front room and there was some street noise on Saturday evening otherwise no problem.

Hotel has a great breakfast with real eggs! The location was perfect, not too far from the water bus stop and regular bus stop at Plaza Roma. It was less than a 15 minute walk once we got off the bus to the hotel. The only tough part was the bridge where you had to carry your suitcase over the steps. Other than that it was simple. The room was nice except for the mosquitoes. I had to ask them to spray the room then it was fine for one night. They should probably just spray every night without being asked, because the mosquitoes came back. My son had two big bites right on his face :(

The only bad part of the room was right behind my bed was the next room's hair dryer. When they used it I was awakened by this awful sound until I figured out what it was. They might want to put that on another wall or not on someone's bed side wall.

Room Tip: We had a room facing a courtyard with no view of the street or anything really. It wasn't bad bu...

The hotel is just a short walk from the bus and train stations but the rest of the city is easily accessible on foot or by water bus. There are plenty of places to eat (and to shop) on the same street as the hotel which is useful. The lobby is quite impressive (better than we expected on our budget!) and the desk staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size; our room was at the back and quite dark but very quiet (we caught up on sleep and nearly missed breakfast) our friend's room overlooked the street and was bright but noisier, but it is not an especially noisy area. The rooms are colourful and venetian and a bit shabby but nothing we were bothered by, and the shower was good. Breakfast is a buffet of the usual hotel fare so nothing special but plentiful. It was a very comfortable place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back can be dark.

Stayed at this hotel in July this year. It was clean, comfortable and just situated in the right place (very close to the train station). The staff were extremely helpful and efficient. The Decor was a bit over-the-top Venetian-style, however it was a lovely place to stay. Thank-you Amadeus!

This hotel has a great location, the room in which we stay had a vibrant colour scheme but the bathroom let it down.

We opened the window in the bathroom and there was a mouse nest IN the wall and lots of mice droppings on the window sill.

Breakfast was excellent, but can't make up for the fact that I was freaked out the whole 3 nights about rodents!

We were sent to the hotel from the overbooked Hotel Principe. The lobby is nice and the staff was friendly and helpful given our situation. However, the room could best be described as care-worn. The room was clean but a little ragged on the edges with no view. Only one working electrical outlet. The floor lamp did not work at all so we only had the two small lamps on the sides of the bed. The bathroom could use some caulking or TileX to clean the tube area. The room was clean but a little ragged on the edges with no view. Our room overlooked the daily wash of neighboring buildings and a noisy courtyard which people used if they smoked. Breakfast was included in our room rate and opens at 7:00 am with standard fare such as eggs and English style uncooked bacon, "European Continental."

We stayed there for 2 nights from September 19. As previous reviewers have said it is a bit tired in the room but the style did go with the ambiance of the city. The bathrooms and linens were impeccably clean. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful. We did have one problem with the room safe - we only saw a safe with a keyhole in it for opening but there was no key there or provided. When we asked at the desk for the key we were told it should be in the lock when we said it wasn't the receptionist became concerned that the previous guest had gone off with it. We asked several times if they had a master but they didn't. It wasn't until we were leaving and checking the wardrobe that we moved a blanket and found that on the otherside of the robe there was another newer safe operated by a digital code. We felt fools, but remember check the wardrobe on both sides for a safe

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel are very noisy from the pedestrian street below.
