“good location, low frills”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

This hotel is a stone's throw from the train station. Plenty of places to eat and shop within a 10 or 15 minute walk. The hotel does not offer a lot of the modern comforts associated with a four star hotel by American standards. Internet was spotty on the first floor at best. The rooms and their decor were old, but so is everything in Venice. The room was small, but fine for a couple on a vacation where we only needed the room for sleeping or getting cleaned up. The main place to visit in Venice is St. Mark's Square, which is on the other side of the city, but that area was far more crowded and expensive.

We stayed 2 nights in a room on the 4th floor. Though the noise from the hallways (especially the opening and closing of the elevator doors) was a bit loud, there was hardly any street noise. There is a great rooftop balcony overlooking the Grande Canal and you literally walk less than 1 block from the Santa Lucia train station. Breakfast was awesome (and included!) with lots of fresh fruits, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, bacon, deli meats, cereals, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice, and pastries. Our waiter looked like Justin Timberlake and was very friendly! We joked around with him a bit. The hotel is old, but they've done a reasonably good job keeping up with it. Our room was clean and very comfortable, though 3 of the 4 pillows were basically cinder blocks. The room was very large by European standards (We had a king room). The shower leaked onto the floor a little, but we were able to stop it with a towel shoved in the corner. The light fixtures were all Murano glass and were beautiful. The internet pretty much did not work, but it was nice to get away from for a couple of days. We were told by the hotel staff that this is a common occurrence and that someone would be out to fix it on Monday. If you absolutely have to have the internet, do not stay here. The staff was very helpful with printing out boarding passes and such since the wifi didn't work. There are plenty of restaurants within a block and we chose to walk to St. Mark's instead of taking the water taxi's even though the landing was literally right outside the hotel. You'll find plenty of knock-off purses and sunglasses from the street vendors and you'll probably be treated to the spectacle of watching the police chase them off and confiscate their goods. This is especially interesting to see from the rooftop balcony. We didn't complain, but the refrigerator in the room did not work. With all of the food options nearby, this wasn't really an issue. We were also allowed to check in early (as soon as a room was available) and they let us store our suitcases for several hours after we checked out. I think the higher floor rooms are better from what I could tell from the other guests and I am honestly quite surprised about the number of negative comments on here. We loved this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the rooftop balcony and enjoy some cheap, delicious wine from the many markets/gro...

This Hotel was in the perfect location for everything. Just steps to the Train Station. Walk right out the door to shops, restaurants and the Canal! The Hotel room was tiny but clean and quaint!.There are bigger rooms. It has a small bar for Happy Hour and a Breakfast room. The people at the reception desk help you find your way around and they speak English. Would definately go back to this Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a large room (it won't be that large but bigger than the one we had) and ask for a room...

The hotel is located just as you enter venice arriving from Piazzela Di Roma, in August the hotel is well air-conditioned at reception and in room. Rooms deco typical venician style, we had a balcony overlooking the canal with nice views. Just outside you find the vaporreto stop and water taxis plus gondola service. Considering hotel prices in venice and being August its good value for money.

Room Tip: Room 102 with private balcony.

My wife and I were transferred here from the Carnival Palace hotel, due to alleged air con problems on the 1st floor of the Carnival Palace (which we didn't believe, we were told by another guest they were overbooked).
We had chosen the Carnival Palace (No32 on Trip Advisor) for it's modern clean look and quiet location. When we arrived we were told about the air con problem and informed that we were being transferred to the Boscolo Hotel Bellini (No198 on Trip Advisor). Having walked to the hotel with our cases we were told we would be "transferred" to the other hotel. The transfer turned out to be us walking behind a porter dragging our cases through the streets for 10 to 15mins to the new location, which was in a very busy area a few metres from the rail station.
This hotel is the complete opposite of the Carnival Palace. The décor is old fashioned, cheap and tacky and looks like it was originally designed by an 8 year old little girl about 30 years ago and hasn't been touched since. Everywhere you look there are fixtures and fittings that are either broken or haven't been put up correctly (have Italians ever heard of a spirit level?). The room we were given was a good size but this meant that the air con unit in the room had very little impact on the room temperature. The shower was broken with mildew in the door seals and grout and the safe was locked closed so couldn't be used. The breakfast was poor and the room maid was trying to get into our room 45mins before the official checkout time (she came into the room twice without knocking while we were still packing). On the plus side we found the staff on the reception desk to be very friendly and helpful.

Was a nice clean hotel, the breakfasts were way to expensive for what they give you, Rooms are dated, tub shower did not work safe did not work but hotel was convenient to train and also a good 12 minute walk to attractions.
