“fantastic hotel and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2010

just had 4 ntights in this hotel and what a great place to stay. First of all dont let it put you off being near piaza roma, this is a plus point in many ways. Firstly when you arrive you have not far to go to get to the hotel and on your departure it is easy for the bus or train station whilst still being on one of the small canals. Also it is near the universaty so it is cheap for food and drinks. There are some great little bars nearby and at 1.20e for a glass of good wine in nice stemwear you cant go wrong. We stayed near san marco 5 years ago and paid 2e for a glass of wine then. Also some hotels are very difficult to find even after you have been there a few days you can still get lost but staying at the olimpia this was not a problem. The staff are friendly and proffesional and go out of there way to help you. Our room was overlooking the canal room 110 on the first floor, it was a very nice room spacious and very clean and nicely decorated. As the weather was cold it was nice to go back at the end of the day to a nice warm room and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very nice lots of choice in a very nice little dining room. There was a lovely garden at the back of the hotel if you go in the warmer weather its a nice place to relax. If i return to venice again i would deffinately stay at this hotel.

My husband and I were on a honeymoon. Hotel staff was nice, rooms were clean. Our room was above the attic, so not only the room was tiny but the ceiling was slanted.... The bed was the smallest I've seen throughout our trip in Italy/Greece. Overall it was ok experience. Also, there is a tiny elevator in the building and it's a bit hard to fit in it with all the bags!

I booked the hotel after reading some positive reviews, and I was not disappointed! The hotel is very close to the station - only about 10 minutes walk. And it didn't take time finding it - one can easily see it from the bus stand (Piazza le Roma). The hotel has a very charming air about it - the whole decor has the old world Venetian beauty about it. The room was also a pleasant surprise. After having stayed in small rooms in good hotels in Italy, we were very happy to see the spacious room and the spacious bathroom with it. I had requested for a room overlooking the canal - and thats what we got, despite it being the new year season ! The room had a cosy bed, a minibar, a TV, a large cupboard.
The service of the staff was excellent ! After the efficient check-in, the staff carried our luggage to the room. A tea/coffee tray was sent us within minutes of asking. The breakfast was good, and the breakfast room overlooks a garden on one side, and the canal on the other.
All-all-in, its a nice cosy place for a romantic getaway!

This hotel has a fantastic location, positioned away from the most touristy and therefore expensive areas, while being close to Santa Lucia station which connects to the mainland via train. It is also a five minute walk or less to bus connections to Treviso airport which makes it a great choice for the Ryanair traveller. There is a water bus stop within few minutes walk which connects you to all the majors stops on the grand canal.
The room was on the small side but decorated in typical Venetian design with lovely quaint touches throughout. The staff were effecient and helpful. The breakfast was very good for a continential and served in a lovely breakfast roon overlooking a canal.
Overall a very clean and well priced hotel bursting with old style Venetian charm.

During our stay in Venice I took a wrong step into the canal taxi and needed medical help.
The hotel took good care of me and helped me in making contact with my insurance.
The location is exellent while you're very near all the public transport lines into and from Venice. The hotel meanwhile, is pleasant and quiet inside.

We stayed here for three nights prior to our cruise, the hotel is very conveniently located transportation wise from the airport and pier. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very good. The only note is that the shower was actually smaller than the one on the ship. Great hotel, I would stay there again and recommend it to friends.

We stayed for four nights at the beginning of December. It was easily accessible from the bus station, a little further away from the railway station. The hotel staff were friendly, polite and helpful. We were allocated room 208 situated on the front of the hotel overlooking a canal towards the bus station. It was a good sized room with tv, controllable heating, mini-bar fridge and electronic safe. It was cleaned daily including a change of bedding and towels. Toiletries were provided. The small bathroom was very well equipped with a small bath with shower over (a shower curtain would have been a good idea), toilet, bidet, washbowl and hairdryer. Tea and coffee making equipment was delivered to our room within ten minutes of requesting it.

The breakfast room was bright and airy, the choice for breakfast itself was excellent inlcuding cereals, breads, meats, cheeses and fruit. A choice of hot drinks was offered, the capuccino was very good.

All in all an excellent choice for a city break, although less able people may have found it too far from the main attractions. However the vaparetto service was within walking distance as was the railway station (yes there are bridges to go over but you are in Venice!) Consider buying a 36 hour or longer vaparetto pass as single journeys are expensive. The passes do cover trips to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello which are well worth a visit. One warning, public toilets are few and far between and cost 1.5 euros per visit! You can find many bars and cafes with facilities where you can get an expresso for the same price. There are also plenty of reasonably priced restaurants off the main tourist areas. We would definitely stay here again.
