“A fantastic tour AGAIN”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2014

We discovered Walks of Italy on our last trip to Italy about 18 months ago, so when planning this trip we contacted them again. This time we were lucky enough to have Mose as our guide again but this time it was for St. Marks after dark. He took us thru St. Marks and the Doges palace on our last trip so we knew how knowledgeable he is. This has to be one of the most fantastic opportunities we've ever had - to see the amazing art in St. Marks with special lighting and no crowds. There were just 2 groups (of maybe 15-20 each) touring that night and the 2 guides arranged it so we were far apart and never felt crowded. St. Mark's during the day is like Grand Central Station at rush hour. This was quiet, peaceful and spiritual. Mose told us about the mosaics on the ceiling, the art work behind the altar and the tombs below. He taught us about history and art. He's fantastic and made this an amazing tour we will remember for a long time. Thanks Mose.

“An excellent thorough tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2014

We were a party of 10 and did the private San Marco and Doge's Palace tour with our guide , Marco. He was very knowledgable, with excellent English. He even arranged for us to have St. Mark's Square flooded, so we could use the "boardwalks." (tongue in cheek) We had a great tour of both the church and Palace. I have always had good fortune with Walks of Italy and this was no exception.. Another great job.

“Understanding a Culture Through It's Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2014

We had read about the cecchetti bars in Venice, so were pleased to find the "Venice Food Tour: Rialto Markets & Cicchetti Tasting with Wine" offered by Walks of Italy. Our guide, Mose, was engaging, very well informed, and an excellent host as he lead us through some of the oldest streets and campos in Venice. Integrating an overview of the history of the Republic of Venice with its food traditions, we tasted some delicious and little known cecchetti dishes (see photos), each accompanied by a wonderful glasses of local wine. We ended our tour with espresso and grappa! We visited some very old cecchetti bars, including one that was said to have been visited by Casanova (who died in 1798!), and walked through the very old Rialto fish and vegetable markets. Mose highlighted each place with interesting stories of each locale, and we enjoyed experiencing a Venice apart from the crowded tourist sites. I would definitely recommend this tour, and will certainly take another of Walks of Italy's tours when I return to Venice. There is so much to be discovered beyond St. Mark's and the goldolas, and this tour made us anxious to dig deeper into Venice's fascinating past.

“Legendary Venice: Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2014

This tour, led by Susan, enhanced our experience of visiting the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica 100%. Susan was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and organized. She managed our group of twelve people very well. Susan is a very enthusiastic historian and I would recommend doing this tour whole heartedly. I just don't know how it could have been better and more educational.

“Excellent Walking Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2014

We spent 10 days in Italy and Greece and these were by far the best tours of our trip. We did 2 tours in one day and had the same guide for both. We were a small group with a knowlegable and passionate guide. The tours are expensive but well worth spending the money on. Our guide was very happy to spend the time to answer all our questions and share her love of her city. Will definitely look at Walks of Italy tours when we are next in Italy
