“AMERICAN DINESEN E PERFETO”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2010

A fantastic hotel in a fantastic place with fantastic staff in Venezia, what else would someone ask more of this. We have visit many places in Europe and usually we stay in 4 stars hotel but due the hotel prices in Venezia we choose a 3 star hotel but i think is like a 4 star. Our room was 109 just over the canal a romantic spacious clean room decorated in venetian style. The view was perfect and never mind for the small balconies there are nice too..... enerything is nice if you are in Venice. Elizabeta and Marco are very helpful and kind, sorry but i can\'t remeber the name of the man who works the nights in reception anyway thanks for all and thanks for all Bruno and Nicolleta too. AMERICAN DINESEN E PERFETTO.

Why on earth anyone going to Venice stays anywhere but Dorsoduro escapes me. Quiet, convenient, close to good restaurants, away from the madding crowds. Close to the Accadamia and other wonderful sights.
Hotel is lovely, close to vaporetto, pleasant helpful staff, near good cafes for those who want to breakfast with the locals, immaculately clean.

This hotel was clean and comfortable and in the absolute perfect location for us (mom and teen daughter). It was within walking distance of everything, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be relaxing at the end of a long day of sight seeing. The front desk staff helped me with anything I asked of them. There is a lovely canal right outside the front door to catch a water taxi. The much less expensive water buses are about a 10 minute walk away. The breakfast was very basic but good, and the coffee was amazing! There were shops right around the corner for souvenirs, post cards, drinks, etc. I'm not terribly into the Victorian decor, but it seemed to fit the area and wasn't at all "old" but well thought out. The bathroom was TINY, but modern and super clean. The double room we had was also tiny, but comfortable and clean. A little creepy that the English TV channels were Fox News and MSNBC, but that was my biggest complaint, which I think says a lot! I certainly didn't go to Venice to watch TV!

Booking 5 weeks ahead of time proved difficult for our weekend in Venice but we found this great place and decided to book. We settled on an apartment for 4 people and it turned out to be a great price and a much better solution than separate hotel rooms.

At check-in, the apartment was to be occupied by other guests for the first night so they moved us to separate hotel rooms and then moved our bags for us the next day to the apartment for our remainder of the stay. If they had moved us to another hotel, this review would be much different but the situation worked out just fine so all was well. Both places were in a side building directly next door and not in the main hotel building.

The location was perfect and was very easy to get to by water taxi from the airport as they were able to easily pull up to the private pier. Our last 2 friends took the water bus from the airport and had no trouble finding it from the Zidane (?) stop. The staff was very helpful and kind - always there willing to help out.

The rooms themselves were very nice and appeared to be newly redone. There was a nice courtyard that we were able to use to have a bottle of wine and relax for the night.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it to others.

We did not partake in the breakfast option and it wasn't needed as there are several very nice cafe's very close that we thought were a better option for vacationers anyway.

We stayed here and found the hotel very pleasant. Our room had a tiny balcony, facing a quiet canal. the location, Dosoduro, is a wonderful area of Venice. You are near great museums and restaurants and a short walk or vaporetto to St. mark's. Yet. it is quiet and less touristic than being near Piazza San marco. We plan on returning. the staff was helpful, the breakfast was fine.

Have just spent a week in this great little hotel in magical Venice. We booked a "room with a view" which overlooked the little canal that runs past the hotel. Well worth the money for the view and ambiance - idyllic and very romantic. Room was very comfortable, very well prepared and kept spotless during our stay. Air-conditioning was effective and necessary. Breakfast room was terrific - comfortable, best of produce well presented and efficiently provided by helpful and polite staff. Management were most helpful, courteous and delightful to deal with. They genuinely cared that they were helping us to enjoy our holiday and did their best to see that we did just that. Hotel is in a great location in Venice, on a quiet peaceful rio just across the Grand Canal less than 5 mins. walk from Accademia bridge and vaporetta stop, which makes all the city sites very accessible yet leaving you with a delightful spot to come home to after the days sight-seeing. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this lovely hotel in an amazing city - and we even spent a hot sunny day lying relaxing on the beach at the Lido - quite feasible, even if you are in Venice! Go there and soak up the culture, the music, the history, the art and architecture, and the ambiance of a truly unique city - and stay in the Hotel American Dinesen for a great holiday!
