If you want friendly service, a good safe location, a clean room, and nice views- this is the place for you! We travelled from Rome to Torino to Venice to Greve and to Florence. After comparing service and accommodations, Hotel American Dinesen defintely is one of our top choices. Our only complaint is the bathroom tub that we had was only separated by glass that only covered 1/3 of the bath tub and the rest was open for water to roam freely. After each shower, our bathroom floor was pretty soaked. There was nothing they can do since it is by design and obviously a drain was in the middle of the bathroom for this purpose.

We stayed for 5 nights in one of the Hotel American-Dinesen Dependance apartments. These are on a room only basis. The 3 Dependence apartments have their own separate entrance that is down a small alley to the right of the hotel. Two of the apartments are on the ground level and there is one up a flight of stairs. (That's the one we had.) The apartments are done out in a modern style which suited our tastes perfectly.

I especially liked the courtyard that the 3 apartments shared. It was so nice to go back and sit out in either in the evening or once we had done our day's sightseeing and before going out for dinner. (The pictures on the hotel's website do not show the lovely outdoor furniture that they have in the courtyard.)

We found the hotel very easily from the vaporetta stop (and if we can do that then it must be easy!) and thought the location was perfect as the Academia vap stop that you got on/off at was midway between St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge.

We would have no hesitation in recommending these apartments and if we ever to go Venice again then I'm certain we will stay in them again.

We booked this hotel on-line because it located on a canal and was able to accommodate four us in one room. We didn't quite know how to get to the hotel, and Marcos at the front desk was most helpful in helping us get to a parking garage and explaining how to take the water taxi to the hotel. Once again, he was extremely cheery and helpful once we arrived to the hotel explaining where we were at, how to get around, where the sites were, etc.

Much to our surprise, we were walked over to the building next door, which houses 3 - two story apartments. The main area has locked door, which can only be accessed by the guests in the three apartments and hotel staff. There is a seating area with guide books and umbrellas available for use by the guests in the apartments. The apartment itself had a main level with living/dining area with a sofa bed for the kids, a small kitchen and very large bathroom with a washing machine. The upstairs had a loft style bedroom with closets. It was very tidy and very comfortable. The only odd thing was that there was no telephone in the room, not even to contact the front desk. When we called about extending our reservation, we had to do so on our mobile.

The hotel is a short walk from the water bus, many attractions and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I would definitely

We stayed there for a night
We arrived late because of the boat transportation in Venice and asked for a late check out and they allowed us until 12!!! This was frustrating
And way the money value for this hotel is very good and you don’t need to hesitate to book this hotel

We have just returned from spending 3 nights in Venice and stayed at this wonderful hotel. It has a fabulous location - 5 minutes from the Academia, 5 minutes from the Guggenheim - 5 minutes from the Vaparetto stop. We found it easy to find. It is in a quiet district which was extremely appealing to us, away from the maddening crowds of Venice. Our room overlooked the canal, was well airconditioned (a necessity in the recent heat wave) and was a great size for a European room. The breakfast was delicious. What made it really terrific was the attentive staff and in particular Alessandro who gave us advice on where to shop for particular items as well as dinner recommendations in the area (and has a great dog!). Would we go back - absolutely! This is a hotel which really made our stay in Venice magical.

Our stay at the American-Dinesen was wonderful. The hotel is located in a quieter area of Venice, but within easy walking distance to all the major attractions. It was HOT when we visited and really enjoyed the cold air conditioned room. At night it was quiet, cool, and we slept soundly. The breakfast offered was your typical european style and was sufficient and filling. The staff was very helpful and pleasant, and the room was clean. We chose a superior room overlooking the canal and we were happy with our decision. The room is not very large, but this is to be expected in Europe. We were hardly in our room except to sleep so it was fine. I loved taking the water taxi from the train station and getting delivered right to our hotel via the canal. Being it was our first trip to Venice, it was a wow experience! I would recommend this hotel.
