This small hotel is a great choice because of its location and size. The people were very, very nice and helpful, room(suite) was very clean and well fitted.....I would have liked to have had a view of the water but, frankly, I was not in the room long enough to worry about the view....

I would highly recommend this hotel as it certainly provides a great location slightly off the main, crowded areas....

After visiting 4 previous hotels in Italy that were supposed to be top notch, my family and I were pleasantly shocked that the American Dinesen was so fantastic, eloquent, marbled cleanliness, nice bathrooms, and totally well rounded great place to stay. The staff was great also--luxury hotel with a family feel of comfort.

I loved it when I came in! Free internet rocks and the place is pretty. The breakfast times are a nice range as well. Great location to the great Venice.

We were given what must be the best room, (number 212 I think!), with a view up and down one of the small canals. Very quiet away from the tourist turmoil but easy access to just about everywhere.
Very friendly, traditional, with a big bathroom and a really nice bedroom.
The padded fabric walls are very Venice.
Good cafes nearby and a good restaurant next door.
We first saw the Hotel American on a previous visit and it lived up to our hopes and expectations.
We will stay there again and recommend it unhesitatingly.
