“Unhelpful staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Room was clean and spacious however very noisy. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
View from window was wall of the next building so not great. Avoid breakfast not very good. Great location, but without a doubt the most unhelpful and disinterested staff l have ever met. my advise stay somewhere else.

Venice is all about exploring on foot and on water. Going slightly off-season the hotel offers modest luxury but in a great location. I enjoyed six days together with my dad and we especially enjoyed visiting Piazza San Marco a number of times a day. For the rates, we got great value with a corner room on the top floor. Substituting the breakfast with some fresh bread I bought from the nearby bakery, the hotel offers a great base from where to explore the city. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and the staff were friendly and helpful!

Room Tip: ask for a corner room on the top floor

A three stars hotel close to main area of the city. It's perfect in case you want to walk the city and have a sleep at night.

Easy to reach from the airport. We took waterbus - Alilaguna line Blue from the airport (15euro/person) and we got off the boat at San Marco plaza where the hotel is also located.

We had a room at 5th floor (no 501). We found out from the other reviews, it was perfect since we were far from the street noises and far from any water smell. We also had a balcony perfect to see the roofs around, which was a relaxing view. We had hot water only for 2 nights out of 5 (I don't know if the rest of the hotel had) and this was the worst point.

The breakfast is 6 euro per person. It is better like this and not part of the reservation. You can have it for one day and go elsewhere in case you do not like it.

The restaurants, trattorias (and so on) will take from you almost the same total amount of money for each meal (small prices for food, more for drinks OR more for food and less for drinks). So it is better to choose one nice restaurant that you like and forget about finding a cheaper one (in case you thought about). It's better to have time to discover Venice :)

I wish you a nice trip!

Room Tip: I recommend a higher floor, better the last (5th) since the building is old and you can also hear no...

This was one of the worst hotels that I have EVER stayed at. This hotel clearly gets away with charging high rates purely because of it's location. It smells awful and is extremely dusty. The carpet, wallpaper, bedding, drapes, windows, and other furniture have not been changed and/or renovated in decades. The bathroom was the only nice part, because it was relatively modern and clean. You have to go to the lobby to use the internet, which is extremely slow, and the smell and dust is WORST in the lobby. My allergies flared up every time entered the hotel.

The hotel was also FULL of mosquitos, and boy did they attack at night. The breakfast was also awful and the staff at breakfast were very rude and followed people around to make sure they didn't grab one too many croissants.

Overall this was a TERRIBLE hotel.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

Quirky room layout and private entrance to solo elevator was a bit challenging until we got the knack during our four night stay. This was a perfect situation for our travel itinerary and agenda. The front desk was helpful and responsible in answering any of our many questions. We discovered that they offered a free water taxi ride/return to Murano when we asked them for the quickest connection to the "Glass" island. The rate we confirmed at our on-line booking was the least expensive one we could find. Breakfast in the hotel was convenient and gave us the perfect start for our tour-packed days. It was not included in our plan but I note that several other guests had it as part of the registration. It is not necessary as there are a wealth of quick and inexpensive alternatives in the vicinity. This hotel is located just behind the northwest corner of St Mark's Square. It is on the lagoon where the St Mark's Gondoliers wait for clients exactly opposite the Venice Planet Hollywood. It's the center of the action and people are jostling through and around all day. At night, it becomes a quiet haven and the walk over the bridge to St Mark's is magical. This proved to be one of the best values of our stay in Venice.

Small, intimate hotel just off St Mark's Square. Perfect central location. Beautifully decorated corner bedroom with views onto both street and canal. Very helpfull and efficient staff. Good quality continental breakfast served in pleasant dining room. All of this at a very acceptable price.

Booked 2 nites here originally then added a 3rd nite 2 days before we were to arrive as we thought we needed it. Turns out we didnt but wouldnt let us cancel it even tho we were still staying the original 2 nites and they charged us the three nites. Wouldnt have minded so much if the hotel was worth it but simple put, it wasnt.

Small, old rooms and very dated decore. Bathrooms redefine the word small. Breakfast poor (at best) and probably the worst coffee ive had in my life.

All of which can be overlooked it you were made to feel like a guest. However we felt from most staff like we were an imposition and the nite front desk man was simply rude.

Have stayed at 4 BW properties on this trip. All others rated good to great - this one, a complete waste of money
