Venice is expensive for everything but BW Montecarlo is worth it. Reception staffs are nice and helpful. We had a great meal with their recommendations! Room and bed are a bit small but it is very near to St Mark's Square.

Great location near St Marks Square, VERY nice staff, good breakfast, and total service!!! (EVEN TO OUTSIDERS) rooms were good size with windows that opened. Ours had french provencial style furniture (for 2 women) on the top floor. As a travel agent, I will always suggest this property for middle of the road, priced customers

I don't have anything to add to what other reviewers have said, really. The hotel is fine, but you might want to consider whether or not you want to be in the thick of things in Venice. Sadly, the city has become a kind of Disney World jammed with tourists, and this hotel is right in the middle of the most popular area. If you want to be somewhat off the beaten track where the streets are less crowded and where restaurants may be somewhat more authentic, then try the Dorsodoro or Cannaregio sections of the city. Venice is such a small city that everything is within walking distance or accessible by vaporetto.

Our family stayed in two rooms for a couple of nights in the Montecarlo. The staff welcomed us warmly and professionally. We left our luggage at reception and went into Venice for lunch. When we returned the suitcases had been taken to our rooms.
The rooms were clean , warm and comfortable. The beds are the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in.
Sometimes it is the small details that really impress and the housekeeping / room service at the Montecarlo really impressed us. EG Extra pillows being put on the bed ready. My daughter's small teddy bear (which travels every where with her) had been put carefully onto her bed and tucked in. The shutters on the outside of the bedroom window had been closed when we returned at night and the bathroom was spotlessly clean and tidy.
The reception staff were very helpful organising our return water taxi collection point and, just as importantly, they had a sense of humour.
All of this was set against the fact that on the day we arrived the hotel had been flooded out due to the Aqua Alta which had been exceptionally high.
All of our party agreed that the location was perfect for seeing the sights. When we take our next trip to Venice we will not hesitate to book the Montecarlo.
