“Lovely hotel and location but beware....,....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

Just returned from a 3 night stay over New Years. First impressions fantastic. Reception and concierge were very welcoming. Hotel beautiful in a fantastic location 4 minutes in between both the Rialto bridge and st marks square. Room, again, first impressions we were very pleased. The room was exceptionally clean with lovely decor although the room wasn't the biggest we were very pleased. However; first thing we noticed was the room temperature. It was so hot we immediately opened the windows to get some air into the room. Upon inspection there was only a heating control in the room and no ac. I know, you wouldn't expect to put ac on in December but the whole hotel was so hot it was required!! We therefore had to leave our windows open for our entire stay which was pretty noisy from outside late at night and early morning church bells and deliveries but having a decent sleeping temperature was more important than noise levels.
Further into our stay our first impressions continued to demised just by small things; the hospitality tray was not once refilled. If you're going to supply tea and coffee supply it for your guests for their whole stay.
Breakfast was only average and nothing special, their scrambled egg was just awful!
The worst issue with our stay was that when we returned early afternoon to recharge the batteries we noticed our bedroom door open slightly and not closed. We had left our room before housekeeping had been in and upon return and entering the room had been cleaned. So from this we initially thought either we had been burgled or house keeping had not closed and secured our door. Fortunately it was the later but upon bringing this to the attention of the receptionist she simply started saying the doors were temperamental. It was my husband that then came over and advised her that the inside lock had been turned so that the door wouldn't shut completely behind. From this she simply apologised and upon check out with the 'hotel manager' no less, no mention so hadn't obviously been advised by reception and no doubt the housekeeping member of staff hadn't been berated either, there was no further mention of this major security issue, an apology or a question as to how was your stay' of which you expect from any good hotel upon check out. Overall disappointed and what could have been a Major security and criminal issue was simply rebuffed. BEWARE- do not leave anything in your room if staying here make sure you use the safe provided which we fortunately did!!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

We have just returned from New Year in Venice, and I can say that this hotel was in a superb location. The front of the hotel faces a canal and two bridges, very popular for photo opportunities! Turn right and San Marco is 4 or 5 minutes walk away. Turn left, and the Rialto Bridge is the same distance. Lots of shops around, too.
Reception is actually next door to the hotel, so you cross a tiny alleyway to get from one to the other. The reception staff are very friendly and all requests are met immediately. We had a suite, which consisted of a large double bed, and a sitting area. There is a fridge that is not electronically set up, so you can put supplies in! On the down side, there are hardly any plug points, and we ended up using one in the wardrobe.
Maid service and turn down service is exemplary, especially lovely when you come back after a hard day sightseeing to find snowy clean towels and chocolates on the bed! The view was a sliver of canal and the popular bridge on which many people pose all day long.... I admit I tried a little photobombing once or twice!
Breakfast is poor. Sorry! Stale rolls, hard croissants and scrambled eggs and bacon every day. It could improve, but it wasn't dreadful. Just poor.
New Year, and the hotel offered a table on the roof terrace with champagne to enjoy the fireworks. Don't do it. They are charging 250 euros for the privilege of sitting on their roof terrace! We thought about it, but we decided it was just ridiculous. The set menu for New Year's Eve came in at 520 euros...... so we ended up taking our Prosecco to St Marks to see the fireworks and it was a lot more fun, well until we nearly got crushed to death trying to get back! Be warned, it's crazy out there at New year, and there is no crowd control. Scary.
So. Great location, really helpful and efficient staff, and possibly the best maid service we've had. Breakfast could be improved, but there is a manager on hand there every day to check that items are being replaced. It's just that the bread and cakes are lacking and the hot option could be changed a little? Despite this,I recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a deluxe triple with a canal view

The hotel is very nice and its location on a canal between San Marco Square and Rialto bridge, is really great. We had a room at the first floor facing a narrow alley, not very exciting view. The room itself was rather large and clean, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. Unfortunately every morning some noise woke up us around 7am. We guessed the noise was produced by the charts of the maids when they started their service.
Breakfast was just ok; the variety of food of the buffet was rather limited.
One night we had dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Food and service were both very good but at the end we were somehow disappointed. The desserts were rather expensive: 10 Euro for a "simple" slice of almond cake (without any topping or decoration) was definitely too much even in Venice.

We looked around quite a bit for hotels in venice and totally pleased with this choice. It was in a great spot, walking distance to several points of interest, restaurants etc. small cozy rooms.. Breakfast was good too. Internet connection was a bit weak. Otherwise, overall quite happy with the price value we got... Would definitely recommend!

Amazing hotel on Venice canal which enchants you as soon as you arrive with Gondolas gliding past ad you check in. Interesting floor plan with bedroom being very small but bathroom almost as large and beautifully finished. Rooms was clean and quaint. Excellent location walking distance to ajar attractions, shopping and restaurants. Breakfast was adequate but very busy with 2 tour groups wanting breakfast all at once. Good wifi in reception and room.
Would recommend.

We have been very pleased with this hotel. The rooms are very well equipped, comfortable and the housekeeping is excellent. The rooms are a tad small but you don't actually spend that much time in them as Venice is so beautiful.

The restaurant is VERY good and I would highly recommend having dinner there one night as it is very enjoyable, we had dinner next to the fire which was such a treat!

The only downside is the service, the que at the reception desk is a little long and often at breakfast it takes a while for the food to come but overall this is not a huge problem.

Room Tip: Although having a canal view is pretty it is very noisy in the morning due to the boat comign past s...

This is a great place to stay while seeing Venice. Classy but not stuffy. Great but expensive restaurant, good breakfast, and everyone is friendly.

All is well, if it was not for the aggravating Swisscom WiFi service. I have experienced it in several hotels over the last few years. Its expensive while it should really be free, it works mediocre and you have to give them your email address to sign up. Everytime you leave your room you have to reconnect when returning. This is plain unacceptable. Every little restaurant we visited in Venice offered simple free WiFi. In future I will avoid hotels that offer this service.

Room Tip: Rooms come in various sizes. You may want to upgrade to a larger room.
