“Mixed feeling's on first trip to Venice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

We stayed at this hotel in August this year, the arrival by speed boat was divine, perfect location. I have been thinking if I should review or not. Hotel is okay but a little lacking in charm, rooms need updating and feel overused. I love antiques but this did not live up to my expectations which were high. My issue with this Hotel is the staff, curt and not helpful and in some cases rude. Feel they are tired of tourists, well get another job as this Hotel is quite expensive, Maybe staff training on guest relations might help. Dinner at restaurant on canal was good and well served. Hotel very hard to find, Did not have grand canal room as booked out when we first tried 4 months ago. felt like a sausage factory. On my next visit would research something more charming, I left Venice disappointed and don't want this experience to cloud returning.

Room Tip: Would book early and get canal view, might help overlook hotels downsides

This trip was for our Ruby Wedding and the cake and Prosecco awaiting us was a great surprise. However, there were some disappointments. We tried hard, booking on the net to secure a room with a view, which we did in a way but rather than a balcony with a balustrade, our's had a cement wall along its length which obliterated any view of the Canal. The room was kept spotlessly clean.
It was surprising in a hotel of this quality to be served tea at breakfast once in a teapot with a lid which did not fit and on another occasion, the teapot had had its spout broken off and really should not have been in use,
Front desk staff, while never less than charming had some strange ideas. We were assured there is no direct vaporetto to Murano, although there is. Assured there is no cafe in the Correr Museum, we found that there is, which was just as well as the cafes in St Mark's Square were under water. Bizzarely, finding that the line for booking a trip up the clock tower was permanently engaged, the concierge declared that the phone must be off the hook and our only recourse would be to find a policeman and ask him to tell them to put the receiver back on! We found, although this is not in the events guide which is produced fortnightly, bookings can easily be made at the Correr.
Dining room staff were uniformly kind, helpful and very hard working with excellent command of English. All the staff were at pains to be helpful to me as I have serious mobility difficulties. Over all we enjoyed our stay but wish we had got the room right and we feel that front desk staff should be better informed. This was our most expensive hol;iday ever for a very special ocasion and probably our last in Venice so we have come away feeling it was not quite as good as we had anticipated

Room Tip: To be certain that the room is what one expected, it is perhaps better to speak directly to staff at...

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend in Venice to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The Westin Europa & Regina Hotel was simply wonderful! We travelled from the airport in a water taxi directly to the hotel which commands an impressive position on the Grand Canal. The interior of the hotel is beautifully Italian and the staff were very helpful. Location was perfect for us as being on the waterfront you are away from the crowds. 5 to 10 min walk to San Marc's Square. We enjoyed sitting in the square at the Grand Caffe and the Florian Caffe drinking delicious coffee and sipping wine whilst listening to glorious music played by the 3 groups of musicians housed in little bandstands. Yes it's expensive but you just have to do it!

We were lucky enough to see 2 weddings taking place at the hotel. What a magical place to get married.

Our room was on the top floor, canal side which was amazing.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough and will save my pennies to go again in the future.

Room Tip: Our room was 406. The weather was glorious but we didn't feel the need to have the air con on o...

Just had our daughter's wedding at the Westin Europa & Regina in Venice. Guests flew in from the USA, Australia, Mexico and the UK as well as from various parts of Italy. It's difficult to describe how successful the event was. The location is staggeringly beautiful, the service and support in planning the wedding during the last 12 months has been exemplary, but the wedding of our little girl to an American was divinely romantic and the party afterwards was sensational.
Many told us this was the best wedding they had ever been to and one guest wrote on Facebook, "Will someone please wake me, I must be dreaming."
Even when a couple of guests after midnight, a little the worse for wear, decided to strip to their pants and leap into the Grand Canal, the hotel staff showed remarkable self control in admonishing the culprits.
The terrace of the hotel fronts the Grand Canal and is opposite San Salute church. This has to be the best terrace in all of Venice. Guests would stroll out of the reception party, either in groups or individually, simply to gaze in awe.
A huge thank you to all at WE&R for making this occasion simply the best.

Room Tip: If you're thinking about a wedding in Venice, call Raffaele Ruffolo.

Stayed in this Venetian style decorated hotel. It is extremely well located but with the tranquility of the gran canal. Walking everywhere was close. SInce it is an alley it is very quiet but as soon as you walk out you can feel the chaos of St. Mark´s upon you.

On the grand canal, location was lovely. Disappointed not to get a room with a view, but there are just so many available. The room was lovely. Service and attitude were so-so. We had an escort and the hotel was still very difficult to find. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade - you'll receive a few extra square feet.
