“Place of serenity, away from the cruise ship brigade”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Lovely and atmospheric cafe with very hospitable and knowledgable hosts. Huge selection of teas and home made cakes.

The freshly baked focaccia with sea salt and rosemary was the best i had ever tasted. The menu is small, perhaps 4 dishes, but these are well thought out and truly delicious.

The setting is scenic, despite being close to the train station it is incredibly peaceful with little footfall.

Definitely worse seeking out this gem.

“Excellent tea room and good vegetarian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

This is a very charming place, and thank God a bit hidden (even though it is very close to Ponte degli Scalzi). It is a small tea room with an international athmosphere: while I was there there were always people from all over the world chatting over their cups of tea. It is a quiet place, so don't expect the buzz of other Venetian crowded cafés.

The tea is excellent and the cakes absolutely amazing, as they are freshly baked every day. There is also a small selection of vegeterian food: which is hard to find in Venice. I had lentils once and they were delicious. They also had some excellent bread. Da leccarsi i baffi!

Drawbacks: It is a bit costly.

“Excellent food; great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Although the menu is small, each dish we tried was excellent. We went back several times. It's family run - the owner is an artist and the walls are decorated with his work. Reservations are probably a good idea.

“The perfect place in the perfect city.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

If you are in Venice and need a break, you must visit Caffe Orientale. Charming atmosphere, great selection of teas and cakes. And probably the best coffe in Venice. You would spend hours chating. Exquisite courtesy of the bartenders.
