Others have rightly commented that this hotel has superb location, comforts and style. If you have decided that the tariff of this category of hotel is within your means, then you may be pondering the possible difference between staying here or at similar hotels in Venice such as the Danielli, Luna, Gritti, Baur and so on. I have been staying at these hotels (and others) annually for the last thirty-nine years, but the Monaco has the edge. What is different is that the people who run and make ithe Moanaco work, from Manager to Chambermaid, actually like being there and doing what they do, and it shows to the benefit of the guest. I always feel that you can best judge the total 'culture' of a hotel by the litmus of 'The Reception'. Here there is none of the loftily superior, insouciant , theatrically slick and sometimes even arrogant attitudes that seem to beset hotels of this standing. The Monaco is run well and the professional care of the guest comes with heart. As with all establishments there can be snags, and I encountered some, but it was the way those difficulties were quickly and kindly ironed out that made the difference. If you want quality with care, the Monaco is for you.
