I am not particularly interested in naval history - but I found this museum facinating. It provided an excellent insight into the history and development of Venice.
The exhibits were well displayed - but more signs in English would have been helpful.
The range of items is wide - from parchment maps created in 1557 - showing how adept the Veneitians were at cartography - to naval uniforms and the history of ship building in Venice. I found the whole museum very enlightening..
It is displayed over 4 floors and visitors need to be able to manage stairs to access areas.
The museum does have public toilets - always an advantage in Venice and these were very clean.
Try walking to the museum from St Mark's Square - it is a fantastic way to see the parts of Venice that many tourists miss...all the little streets where the locals live and provides an opportunity to visit a lovely park.
