“Venice in the spring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

First visit and loved it. Water & boats a pleasant change from bikes & vehicles. Food & drink great and not as pricey as we thought apart from the biggest rip off ever at Harry's Bar. Ludicrous prices 16 € + 10% vat for a Bellini that tasted nothing special in a place tha resembled the front room of a working men's club save for waiters in white coats. We must have been mad to pay 67€ for 4 drinks. Leave it to the rich yanks that frequent the place. Hotel Bauer absolutely fab great location.

Room Tip: Would have preferred view of grand canal but that would cost somewhat more €'s but room facing r...

My family and I stayed here for one night before a cruise, and was not disappointed. The hotel was within easy walks to most major sites in this beautiful city, which to me, was the most important aspect to a hotel in Venice.
The morning buffet did the job, and the lobby bar was a nice place to spend time before going out in the city.
The only real downside for us were the rooms. Yes, this is Europe, so subsequently the rooms are small. The beds weren't entirely comfortable, and the pillows weren't very plush. The bathroom was gorgeous though.

All in all, this is a beautiful hotel with an even more amazing location. Highly recommend it.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to review of our hotel. In particular, we are pleased to note you were satisfied with the location, the breakfast buffet and our bar.
Regarding the room, we regret it was not entirely satisfactory. We are constantly upgrading beddings and are hopeful you will have a chance to experience our renewed service on occasion to your next visit to Venice.

Yours very sincerely

Stayed at the Bauer during a family trip at Easter time. We enjoyed the hotel comfort very much because of the tropical rain outside and the acqua alta almost every night ! The Bauer is a mixture of a traditional hotel with gracious personals and of a modern hotel . The room for breakfast right in front of the Canal and the Duana is most memorable. Plenty of nice trattoria around. Trying to get totally lost in Venise and coming back to the Bauer is a great program

Just returned after staying over Easter at the hotel. Arrival at the hotel was by water taxi to the private jetty of the hotel which was an excellent way to arrive and also leave.

We arrived earlier than the recommended check-in time but this was no problem as they had a room ready in 10 minutes.

Room was excellent, large and roomy with an equally large bathroom with corner bath and shower room.

There was no noise at all apart from the bells of the nearby tower but that was soon forgotten.

The hotel situation made for easy access to the Square and only a 15 minute to the Rialto Bridge.

Will definitely be staying at the hotel again and hopefully will get to try the newly furnished Spa.

The staff, especially Snr Carlo was excellent and all would do everything to make your stay a memorable one.

Stayed there for a family weekend (2 adults & 2 children 6&9) from the 16th to the 18th March 2013 in a suite, as this was the only way to accommodate the whole family. Alternatively would have been two double rooms, but the hotel could not guarantee that the rooms would be adjacent!
Hotel is kept in the old style but very clean and with great service from arrival to departure.
Breakfast was very good and international, and the service in the breakfast room was extremely attentive, and very friendly to the children.
The suite was nice and quite large with two bathrooms, and the children slept in the sitting room on a sofa which converted into a bed. However, there was no view at all, which is rather disappointing if you have booked a suite!
Drinks in the bar are very expensive, but I guess this is normal for Venice.
Location is right next to San Marco square, and you can either arrive by a taxi boat directly to the hotel's own boat pier, or by the public ferry to San Marco Sq. and then walk to the hotel for approx. 5-10 minutes.
Most exceptional service came from the Concierge Mr. Carlo, who deserves a huge compliment not only for the great and attentive service he offered us throughout our stay, but more so for his personal attitude and the way he offered his assistance. He is truly an asset to the hotel.

Dear Guest,

We thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel.

It is a pleasure to note you were satisfied with your stay and that you enjoyed the courtesy of our Staff as well as the quality of breakfast , the interiors of your room.
The hotel has several connecting rooms and suites and we can usually guarantee them at time of booking unless availability is scarce as I assume it was when you booked. This said, please let me know when you plan a trip to Venice in the future. It will be a pleasure for me to personally assist you in reserving the best accommodation for your and your family.

Yours very sincerely

Had three nights here, returning after a stay many years ago. The Bauer continues to delight! The hotel exudes old fashioned elegance and grandeur. Located just along from St. Marks, with Grand Canal frontage and direct access by water taxi. The welcome from the staff starts as you step off the boat and continues everywhere. Concierge team will make all the recommendations for visits, lunches and dinner you need, and will book them all for you! Rooms are grand, stylish with lovely bathrooms, comfy big beds.....and evening turn down service. Breakfast by the Grand Canal is both delicious and a visual treat. Cannot recommend this hotel high enough and thanks to all the team who made it a great stay.

Room Tip: Stayed on 5th floor overlooking rooftops and side canal. Noisy Gondoliers in day, but nothing too ea...
