“Go for it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

On a fine day it's such an awesome view. 360 degree views over Venice. It's even cooler when the bells go off.

“The view is average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

As Venice is surrounded by water you can get most scenic photographs at ground level by going to the water's edge. The extra height simply means more buffeting by the wind as it's very exposed.

“Best views of Venice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

How lucky were we that we ascended while the bell tower was striking 12!? The higher we got, the louder but what an experience. There is no other place to see an overall view of Venice like this. There's not a 'bad side' up top. You can easily spend 30 minutes here and the lines going up/down were not bad.

“Good views of Venice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

The Campanile is almost directly opposite the entrance to the Basilica di San Marco. You need to stand in line to buy tickets (8 EU per head) and then take a rather cramped lift up to the top of the bell tower, but once you get up there you may be pleasantly surprised. The bell tower itself is small and the bell hardly the largest you will see, but it affords a bird's eye view of the entire city of Venice and the nearby islands, from St Mark's square and the surrounding buildings to the grand canal all the way up to the Rialto bridge.

Venice does not have the most interesting skyline since there are a lot of low buildings whose rooftops are not nearly as fascinating as their front facades or insides, but if you are a shutterbug you might just enjoy this. If you are pressed for time, then recommend you skip it, there are better things to do in this city.

“Not a canal in sight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

On a clear day, the view is absolutely breathtaking, extending as far as the distant Dolomites. Curiously enough, apart from the opening to the Grand Canal, one doesn't see a single stretch of water.
The entry fee, of course, is too high, but this is Venice, where almost everything is overpriced.
