“See inside a Grand Canal palazzo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

A beautiful building full of pretty things. It’s not an Art museum like most of the other museums in this city, although there are plenty items of interest hanging on the walls. The main attraction is the ability to see inside one of the palaces you pass all day along the Grand Canal with some rooms original and some relocated from other places. There is information on cards in each room in several languages. Allow 60 to 90 minutes to get through everything.

“A great chance to view a Venetian palace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

This Venetian palace is one of the few open to the public. It is furnished with authentic period pieces and is worth the time to visit for its beautiful ceiling frescoes alone. The architecture is impressive and it gives a rare glimpse into the "lifestyle of the rich and famous" in Venice's classical era.

“Favorite Museum in Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

My daughter and I both found this to be one of our favorite museums in Venice. It's set up like a fabulous residence would be from that era and the beautiful art speaks for itself of course. It's also a lot less crowded, which is refreshing. Go and enjoy.

“A Venetian way of doing things “National Trust”. And lots of art.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Located on the Grand Canal just up from Accademia and with it’s own Vaporetto stop, this museum is worth a visit. There are some lovely rooms to see, but what’s interesting is that a lot of them are reconstructions using art and other pieces saved from other Venetian palazzos. Very similar then, to the approach taken by many a National Trust property in the UK – putting in period property to recreate, where the originals had previously been lost, destroyed, removed etc. The third floor “pharmacy” is a highlight in this respect.
There is also a lot of art. The third floor has an amazing collection of Venetian pieces, and the first and second are interspersed with some rare frescoes as other excellent paintings, as well as more modern art. Seek out the two Canaletto’s on the first floor, and one particular two century old Murano glass chandelier – stunning. In many ways, if you do this beautiful house, then this pretty much sums up Venetian life at it’s height and you need not see any other!
Note though, it's not for families - there is nothing for kids to do here except play in the garden.

“Pretty place...but not for everyone”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

The Ca'Rezzonico museum is an old Venetian Palazzo transformed in museum. You could visit a small garden (with not a lot of interests, except for the fountain with turtles and fish at the entrance). The inside court is simple but huge. Inside the palace, you could not take photographs and the entrance price is a little expensive for the time we spent inside. You could see a typical venetian palace with beautiful painted roofs and decorated walls. Some old furnitures were presents in some rooms, but not enough to really show a complete furnished palace. You have three stages to visit and the last one shows only paintings (several nude women in renaissance style, religious paintings, etc). I recommend this visit only for people who are realy art lovers or who want to see at least one old palazzo...for the others, spend your time in another way if you do not stay at Venice for several days!
