“Great Local Eatery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

What a great find! This little eatery (I suppose you could call it a café of sorts) is a gem. It was just round the corner from our hotel, five minutes walk from the bus station, and was always packed every time we went by. There were senior citizens there at 9.30am followed by students and tourists for the rest of the day. The most wonderful little freshly baked rolls packed (and I mean packed) with great tasty meats all washed down with a choice of 4 or 5 different wines at 90 cents a glass. We had a couple of rolls each and a glass of wine each all for €4.50 - bargain!!!!

“Great Sandwiches”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

Try to get there by 11:30. Later, expect to be cheek to jowl with neighborhood regulars, students, and, now, tourists who have read about it. I know this as I ate there a few times but also walked by it many times and it was always crowded around 12:00 to 1:00. If you get there after 12:00, expect to slowly move toward the bar in a crowd. When you get there, you have a choice of 3 or 4 different sandwiches (prosciutto, salami, etc.,) on really good crusty rolls and small glasses of wine or prosecco. The sandwiches aren't big, so if you're hungry get three, if not so hungry two or one will do. You can sit on the steps, stand in the Campo or maybe find a space on one of the barrels outside the shop to rest your wine glass and food.

“Fantastic local Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013 via mobile

A great recommendation. Filled with trendy locals and a great way to watch people go by. Don't expect anything more than it is. It is simple with great wine, great vibe and cheap! A complete winner.

“What a great little bar!”

Cheap rolls that tasted great, friendly guys running it and glasses of pressecco for 90cents. Stand outside or sit on the church steps and enjoy a piece of real venice!

“Workmans cafe -Venice style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

This tiny place was full of smelly older Italian men, like the equivilent of our greasy spoon cafes. Unnerving for a young lady like me but the experience was good.

Yes the drinks are cheap, merlot 60cents, presecco 80cents

BUT the servings are maybe 100ml maximum! So you need a few of them.

The crusty rolls with parma ham, salami etc are nice but quite small so again, you need 2 or 3.

The best part of this place is that there is a long stretch of steps down to the canal where you can sit in the sun and eat. We saw a bride and groom go by in a gondola so it was a great atmosphere

Give it a try if you're interested in local cultures

The salami made my fiance very sick but I was fine. Maybe best avoided by the elderly or by pregnant ladies

Nice and polite staff
