“An exhausting stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

We love Italy and have returned to this beautiful country many many times. We always try to stay in either bed & breakfasts or small boutique hotels, as we like a cosy atmosphere and tranquility. So far we always managed to find a perfect spot. The Aqua Palace Hotel seemed to be another jewel in this range, this time in Venice.

When we arrived at the place, it looked indeed marvelous. The room we got assigned was magnificent, definitely not big in comparison to other four star hotels we stayed in before, but we don't mind having a small room. Unfortunately, the room was located next to an elevator. Each time the elevator went up, you clearly noticed a buzzing sound. It was not that loud, but loud enough for us to get awake at night. We asked the reception if we could change, as we would stay for a couple of days. They told us that the hotel was fully booked, but that they could provide us with another more silent room at the fourth floor. That room was less luxurious (no bath, smaller bed), but as long as we have a good bed and enjoy a good night, we are already happy. Unfortunately, that room was located close to a technical room. At night there was a constant humming sound, that often intensified. The first night was ok, but the second and third we didn't get much sleep. Additionally, the hotel is located next to a canal, and apparently located on a spot where each morning at 6:40am the Venetian garbage collectors start... collecting the garbage in their diesel boats. And if your room is located under the roof, you don't need to set up an alarm clock anymore.

All other aspects of the hotel are ok. The breakfast was sufficient, and the waitress was exceptionally kind. Overall, staff was friendly and did their best, although one time our room wasn't tidied up in time when we returned (2pm). There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there are many excellent alternatives in the neighborhood. You should definitely try the nearby Da Mario Alla Fava!

To conclude: the Aqua Palace Hotel is a beautiful, charming hotel and it has a friendly staff. However, the building itself has its drawbacks. If you plan a relaxing stay and want to enjoy this hotel, we would recommend to order a room not close to the elevator, nor on the 4th floor. We eventually did enjoy Venice, despite the rain, but it was an exhausting stay...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

We stayed in Junior suite with canal view from all windows for 4 nights in January. True boutique style hotel. Perfect location - it is half way between Realto and St Marcos basilica. We walked from the realto on arrival, but if you take a water taxi (70 euro) , it takes you to the front door of the hotel. Neat and cosy real Italian interior, clean, friendly staff at the front desk and the breakfast room made us feel right at home. Opera, taxi, gondola etc - can all be booked through the reception (and are not marked up if you do that, we did price around prior to booking through the hotel). The breakfast is great, fresh and good variety. Check-out is at midday, which is great. Would definitely stay here again, highly recommended.

This hotel was recommended by friends.
We've got the last available room.
Location is one bridge and 4 minutes walk from St.Marco place, or 3 bridges and 6 minutes from Rio Alto.
The Bus boat trip from/to the airport is much shorter to the Rio Alto station.
Free excellent breakfast, free high speed wifi.
The hotel has all the merits.

Been in this hotel in January 2014, it was hard to find at first, but then after it was easy to get around or to any place in Venice. Located well just few mins away from San Marco and Grand canal.
This hotel offers good service, room been nice and clean, bathroom was big, made with marble which is rare in Europenian distanations for 4* hotels. Bed been comfortable to sleep, we didnt have canal view so it wasnt noisy. Breakfast was fresh and had big selection, waiter was very welcoming and looked well after guests, I would highly recommend when you booking this hotel book it with breakfast because its very hard to find good place to eat nice meal. If I ll go Venice I ll definitely stay again in this place.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

I remember booking our room at the Aqua Palace and thinking that for the price, there must be some kind of catch. But we found the Aqua Palace to be everything it promised and more. We booked a junior suite and were so lucky to be given a superb room which overlooked the nearby Guerra canal from some 3 windows. The bedroom’s décor was golden and lavish; the room spacious and cosy. The bathroom was similarly grand in design – my only complaint would be that for a suite, we would have expected a bathtub in addition to the shower, and likewise more bathroom storage would have been welcome. I would also have liked thicker towels and bedding. However, other than those minor matters, the room was superb. As for the hotel itself – it is a stylish, elegant boutique hotel, from its beautiful reception area through to its unique little outside sitting area right by the canal. The breakfast (which was included) was ample and delicious (although one of the ladies who worked there was rather loud and walking around moaning that she felt ill and shouldn’t be at work – which was a little off putting when one is trying to eat). Finally the location of the hotel cannot be beaten - between St Mark's and the Rialto. This is a magnificent hotel and we will definitely return when we are next in Venice.

Room Tip: Go for a junior suite - it's worth the extra!
