“Consistently Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

This was my second time visiting the hotel (after having such a lovely experience the first time round) and I was impressed that standards remained just as high, and some of the friendly staff were still there. Cleanliness, comfy beds and impeccable shower rooms are always high up my list and it was nice to see this as also maintained. Breakfast, which was included in my stay, was bountiful, with good selection and strong coffee ready to help me start the day. I still remember the fresh smell of croissants which filled the room! So another nice stay here, who knows if I visit Venice again, I'll be making the Duca de Venezia part of the trip once again.

Excellent hotel in a perfect location: far from the chaotic San Marco but close by all the main attractions the city has to offer! Very nice and friendly staff! Rooms are super cosy and extremely nicely decorated.

The staff spoke English and were super helpful. The hotel was a little hard to find but was actually close to everything. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was great. We would stay here again!

Great hotel option for Venice. Fairly close to the train station so it is relatively convenient drop off luggage prior to exploring Venice. The breakfast choices are pretty good compared to other hotels in Italy (they had quiche and a cheese and meat platter available vs the usual pastries only). Rooms were nice and fairly spacious. Courteous front desk service. Will definitely plan to go back if we ever find ourselves in Venice again.

A really nice hotel about 20 minutes walk from St. Mark's square. Michelle (receptionist) spoke perfect English and was very very helpful. Breakfast was continental and tasty. The bedroom was clean and decadent (requested the red room) and overall excellent value for money.

As it's a little off the beaten track, you need a good map to be able to find your way back in the evening.

A couple of minutes walk from the S.Stae Vaporetto stop (Line 1 takes you to S.Marco via Rialto). Alternatively when walking, follow signs for the Natural History Museum (next door to hotel).

Room Tip: Request the Red Room if you're looking for the ultimate romantic stay!

We have just spent 4 wonderful days in Venice at The Beautiful Hotel "Al Duca Di Venezia" from the moment We stepped from Our water taxi (just meters from the hotel") We felt We had arrived!!!! Caterina, The Hotel Manager was at reception to Welcome Us+check Us in..She was very helpful+efficient+explained how to get around This Wonderful City from The Hotel..We were shown to Our beautiful suite by Antoinitta+Wow it is beautiful!! (Room 104) photos really do not do the rooms justice..It is beautifully decorated, with padded damask walls, a draped canopy bed+pretty furnishings.. Large Murano glass chandeliers hang from the incredibly high ceilings.. The living room of the suite is like a mini ballroom, the same damask cladding on the walls+a large comfy sofa(which turned into a bed for Our two Children at night..This room had paneled glass doors running the length of it, they lead out on to the small but beautiful marble balcony, I just loved looking at the stars from this spot at night or glancing down at the boats going by on the Grand canal at the end of the road.. My parents in law were with Us+We had booked a superior dbl room for them. This room was also wonderful. In contrast to Ours it was a deep Venetian red but with the same attention to detail as Ours..It is also a really spacious room.. When staying at "Al Duca Di Venezia" there is no mistaking that you are in Venice+that is what I loved.. It's like a mini Palazzo at a fraction of the cost.. We stayed just behind St.Mark's square some years ago but the rooms were soulless+could have been anywhere in the world, whereas this was the complete opposite! typically Venetian+beautiful.. The staff are all incredibly polite+helpful..(a special mention to Michelle who had been very helpful when I was booking+who booked tickets for a concerto for Us at no extra cost while there)Breakfast is terrific with freshly baked pastries+bred rolls. There is a selection of meats, cheese, yoghurt+fruit! You really could ask for no more from a 3 star Hotel.. Yes the hotel is a good walk to St.Marks square, but on the way you find The Rialto bridge+many historical churches etc!! When strolling through Venice almost every corner you turn has something to grab your attention..There is a vaperetto stop "San Stae" which is just a few minutes from the hotel also..There is also a great little square with cafés+restaurants where We sat for lunch+watched the locals go by.. We would recommend The Beautiful "Al Duca Di Venezia" to anyone traveling to this charming+magical place!! +once again A Big Thank You to it's wonderful staff!!!!

Room Tip: Suite 104 with balcony is really beautiful (cream decor) room 102 (red decor) is also a very beautif...

We stayed here for one night back in May 2012 while touring Europe. If you are looking to stay anywhere near the Grand Canal, then this isn't the place for you - it's off the beaten path, towards the north side of the city. However, this means that you get a much quieter stay and a much more reasonable price for what you get. Though this was still the most expensive place we stayed on our whole trip, compared to other Venetian hotels, it was a bargain.

The hotel provided good directions for locating it, which is important because anyone who has stayed in Venice knows that it is a tricky city to get around. We took a water taxi from the train station, and it only took 2 stops and about a 5 minute walk to get there.

Though in a more remote area of Venice, there are a few restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. We tried one and found it to be quite good.

The best thing about this hotel was the room itself - it was STUNNING! It was the red "Superior" room pictured on their website. My wife absolutely fell in love with it, and it was incredibly romantic. The bed was comfortable and we had a nice quiet night of sleep. Breakfast in the morning was limited but pretty tasty.

All in all, I would definitely recommend Al Duca di Venezia if you're looking for a great value while staying in Venice.
