“We highly recommend this hotel!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This hotel and friendly staff provided our best accommodations on recent trip to Italy that included stops in Florence and Rome. We stayed in the Red room (superior) for a 3-day stay in Venice, which is on one of the upper floors. We experienced absolutely no noise and the room was very dark which enhanced our sleeping. The red room is decorated in a venetian style, with red fabric on the walls and red bedding - it was a splurge and we loved it! The rooms are huge by European standards, furnished with a small table and chairs, armoire and other small tables. The bathroom was new and modern and the room was cleaned daily. It was very hot and humid in Venice, and the coolness of the hotel was very refreshing. The free Wifi was a bit annoying, requiring you to get a new password daily for each device being used, but we found this to be pretty standard at other properties. Breakfast was excellent with a very accommodating staff. We loved the filled crescents and looked forward to the cake of the day and the fresh fruit salad. Vaporetto stop is within easy walking distance - I recommend the ACTV pass which you can buy online ahead of your trip and pick up at the airport terminal in a self-service machine - it allows you to take a shuttle from the airport to the bus station and then you can ride the vaporetto an unlimited number of times during the length of your pass (we purchased 72 hours).
Thank you Catarina and your staff for a lovely stay!!

Room Tip: The Red room was very romantic and quiet - very large room. Looks just like the pictures on the web...

Very spacious by European standards rooms, beautiful, cleaned daily, safe for your valuables and fridge in the room. Free wifi and very cold A/C (it gets hot in Venice).
Location is great as it is close to trains/buses (took us 7 minutes to walk to train station, and about 10 min to Realto).
Very decent breakfast: hard boiled eggs, salami/cheese, pastries, cold cereal, coffee/tea.
Very polite and helpful staff gave us great advice on transportation and arranged for earlier breakfast since we has to leave hotel at 7am.
Cons: pillows are as hard as bricks. Our room was also a bit noisy, but perhaps upstairs guests were just extra heavy walkers. Nothing ear plugs could not take care of.
Overall very recommended.
Tip: take a vaporetto nr.1 from P.Roma (first stop) and enjoy a 6 euro trip in the open back of the boat all the way to San Marco!

What a wonderful experience and probably the best choice we could have made to stay at this jewel of a hotel! Room was exotic and out of this world - so romantic - a sight that will forever be framed in our minds! We shall definitely return!

Room Tip: This hotel is well located to explore Venice in all directions. The room was beautiful - one of the...

We visited Venice in the middle of the summer and stayed at this typical hotel. It was cumbersome to access but probably as are all the hotels in the city.
The rooms were extremely clean and offered a minimal but sufficient space. The personal was kind and helpful.
Overall a very pleasant first experience of venice.

Never having been to Venice before we chose the Al Duca di Venezia and could not have been more pleased. The hotel is very, very nice, clean and comfortable. The room size was adequate with plenty of space. The hotel is centrally located in Venice and is within walking distance to the train station and many attractions and restaurants and cafes. They serve a very good breakfast. The hotel is in the Santa Croce district and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas to make you feel as though you are in "Old Venice". Very quiet and quaint. This was a very nice place for us to stay and we would definitely stay here again.
