“Excellent meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Our group of 8 was actually on our way to a different restaurant only to find it wasn't open yet and wouldn't be for another hour. We walked around a bit and like some of the others we were politely asked if we were eating. We were quite hungry at the time so we all said, "why not" and went in. My meal was very good. I enjoyed my caprice salad followed by pasta arrabiata and chicken with mushroom courses. No one in our group had any complaints. The service was attentive and the prices were reasonable. I'm ot sure why European restaurants don't like giving seperate checks but this was also the case here so other than some time spent divying up the costs we were all satisfied. I know some people can be put off by owners fishing for business but I wouldn't have a problem returning there for another meal. Give it a try.

“Excellent dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

We entered this Restaurant on seeing the sign Trip Advisor. We had the best meal in Venice. My wife had sea bream whereas I had Monk fish. This was complimented with a bottle of good wine. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice and even had a chat with the owner.

“great local restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

We walked past this restaurant during the day and the owner asked if we were eating, he was not pushy like most in Venice so we decided to go back in the evening. It was very good the staff were polite and helpful. The food was also very good, so good we went back again after trying another restaurant and that was equally as good.

“If you avoid those 'inviting' you in to eat...ACCEPT this one...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

On our first day in Venice, we stumbled upon this restaurant and as walked past, were given some encouraging words about the food and a card by a smiling ( and as we found out later) owner. So after another 30 mins of walking we made our way back as there was something charming about the owner which seemed better than the numerous other faceless establishments.

The owner was still outside and greeted us with a " you came back" - we were sat inside as it was chilly and immediately given a welcome glass of a local wine. The staff were well informed about the food and the owner always at hand to explain dishes and how they were created. “Sardine saor" is a Venetian starter and was superb- highly recommended- the fish was very fresh and presented at your table where it was filleted and served- we chose a 'local' Venetian Pinot Grigio ( nothing is very local but by local they mean grown within 300 km !) at about 30 euros that was very crisp and were given lemoncello with our coffees.

All in all a very pleasant find, to be definitely recommended when nr the Rialto bridge (10 mins walk) but if heading back over to the Hilton shuttle boat, make a note of the way back to S Marco dock side, as all these tiny streets look the same after a few drinks

#lostforawhile !!
