Whilst not exactly bad, our meal at this restaurant during a recent visit to Venice was at the same time by some distance the least impressive and yet the most expensive. Set some way back from the main San Zaccaria waterfront down a side canal, the restaurant has a pretty location. Service was attentive until we had ordered (less so from that point), and after we had our apperitifs the head waiter gave us the hard sell for a fresh turbot ("he only had one fish') - as it was our last night and my wife adores fish, we agreed. (Stangely we overheard the same waiter make the same 'only one fish' pitch to four other sets of diners, two of who also ordered turbot !!) Now when you do agree to something like this, you do (or should) know in advance that it's not going to be cheap so the bill wasn't a surprise, but it would be nice if the food was done well. Unfortunately at this restaurant, average is seemingly the name of the game. Our bill for two aperitifs, two starters from the a la carte menu (neither of which was very good), the aforesaid fish, two deserts (dreadful panacotta and a wonderful zabaillone) a bottle of Prosecco and a bottle of water was Euro 180 inclusive of service, which as mentioned above was by a distance the worst value and overall the least impressive food we found (and we ate both on the waterfront, and at some of the well-reviewed establishments). One to avoid.
