“5 Star Staff - no need to look any further”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2010

If you are like me, you do a lot of research about where to stay. I can say without hesitation that you don't need to look any further. I have stayed in many, many hotels around the world and I can say that the staff at both this hotel, and the Antiche Figure, outshine the others. At no time did I ever feel it was a result of them doing their job...it was more that they were genuine and passionate and 'got it' in terms of what the benefit of great customer service is. They should have a side business of consulting to the large luxury hotel chains! The other nice benefit is that they have modern and very clean rooms. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these two hotels to any of my friends or family. Yes, the price is high but that is Venice and not specific to this hotel. And yes, it would be nice if it was closer to the 'main' attractions but half the fun of Venice is walking around and exploring. The only suggestion I would have for them is to try and get more english speaking tv channels to reflect the global travellors they have. This hotel is one of the few where I can honestly say that the official star rating for them is too small...5 star staff turn these into 5 star hotels.

The other reviews have said it all really, a perfect hotel in a perfect location. The staff are helpful and the rooms immaculate. Watch out for the 100 euro water taxi, its easy to catch the bus and a vaparetto for a fraction of the price.

If you are going to Venice ..stay here.

My expectations were pretty high after reading all the great reviews on this site and I was kind of scared that they won't be met.
But the Hotel Canal Grande exceeded most of my expectaions.
We travelled with our daughter and got a triple room that opened up to a courtyard garden. The room was beautifully appointed, giving us a feel of old world venetian elegance. But had all modern amenities. Loved the shower!
The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was good with a great view.
The hotel location is very convenient. It has two vaproretto stops nearby and is just across the canal from the main train station. Especially helpful if coming with luggage. It is an easy walk to all the main attractions. Has good restaurants nearby. Definetly try Pizzeria trattoria all'anfora. Best pizza we have ever had. Went ther 3 times on our 2 day stay!
So Thankyou Giovanna,Alexandro and rest of staff for a wonderful stay

If you wish to find an hotel close to the train station, where the room are well appointed and the staff is very nice and helpful... This is the place for you. I will be back there next time I'm in Venice.

Thanks for the wonderful stay!

My wife, two daughters and I stayed three nights in April 2010 after visiting Rome based on the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. I needed a hotel near the train station where we arrived and the bus terminal for our early morning departure. The reviews were very accurate. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Canal Grande. Giovanna and the staff were very helpful and professional. The entire hotel was renovated especially the rooms which were beautifully decorated in the Venitian style. The two bathrooms were a big plus traveling with two kids. Breakfast with capucinno was great. This hotel was a nice change from our old and sparse hotel in Rome. Walking to the Rialto Bridge and San Marco was an easy 20 minute walk with signs clearly marking the way. We also bought a two water shuttle pass. The shuttle stop was two minutes away. If you want to enjoy Venice, I recommend staying here.

Clean quiet & romantic hotel with a staff that was professional & available 24 hrs a day.
Good breakfast with a cozy atmosphere to start your day.Beautiful views of the canal from canal side rooms and bench in courtyard . Train station across canal approx 5 - 10 min walk , bus station is only another 5 - min, with food available within the same area.
