We've just returned from a 4 day break in Venice to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary - the honeymoon we never had, so to speak! We picked this hotel on the basis of previous excellent reviews and the look of the photos on their website. Having never visited Venice before we were very unsure which location to pick - there are so many fine looking hotels in what appear to be good locations - but we would definitely say we made the right choice 100% and cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a small hotel that could best be described as 'boutique' - this therefore means that the staff are able to provide a more personal service. We found all the staff to be very pleasant and helpful - going out of their way see what more they can do without being OTT. Before arriving my husband made contact with them to arrange flowers etc for our arrival - and again they were very helpful. We also requested they arrange the water taxi from the airport (expensive but well worth it) which they did - emailing us details etc. Overall customer service was fantastic. British hotels - take note - this is how it's done!!
Hotel location - right on the Grand Canal as others have said - good for the Valporetta & train station plus lots of small, quality places to eat etc. Probably about 45 min walk for St Marks Square etc - but that's fine taking in all the little alley ways, shops, bridges etc.
Hotel facilities good - breakfast was nice and adequate for what you need 'buffet style'. The suite we had was nicely furnished, very clean and well serviced with good air con - which was needed due to the high temps whilst we were there.
One note: the free boat trip to Murano is purely a sales trip for the glass firm - not really worth it - better to take a water 'bus' and spend more time walking round that part of Venice.
An evening at one of the music events is definitely worth it - try the Musica a Palazzo - very enjoyable!
Would definitely use this hotel again and will be recommending to a friend for her honeymoon later this year.
