“Nice Hotel in Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2011

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in September. The service was excellent and we ended up with a room looking over the grand canal, which was very nice and surprisingly quiet. The room was on the small size, but very quaint and nice. The bed was on the hard side for me, which would be my only real complaint. The hotel didn't seem very busy until our last day so we had no problem eating breakfast and having a nightcap out at one of the two tables on the dock.

We took a private taxi (110 Euro) from the airport to the hotel which I highly recommend if you can. I am sure the shared taxi (~32 Euro) is good as well. It is a really nice way to approach Venice and get to where you want to go with the least hassle.

Our favorite thing about this hotel is the location. You are away from St. Mark's square and the other touristy places, which we really liked. There are some great neighborhoods to explore around the hotel and the crowds are a lot less than the east side of town, where you can easily get to when you want to. You might not like this location if you have issues getting lost, or don't like to walk. You can take the public boat places, but it is much easier to just go out walking. Getting lost in Venice is inevitable. If you let it stress you out you will be miserable. If you have fun with it, it is a great way to explore the city. I would recommend this hotel and gladly stay here next time I am in Venice.

Gorgeous View from this hotel, very close to the train terminal and short walk from Bus Terminal that takes you to the airport. Rooms are decorated in very grand (hence the name) venetian style. Artists were outside painting the amazing view and you can sit and have a drink on the balcony and enjoy it! Staff were very helpful and answered all of our questions in relation to planning our day trips to Murano and Lido, where to get a gonolla ride from and made recommendations for the opera and booked one for us. Unfortuantely I cannot say there was 1 restaurant we tried in Venice where I loved the food and I just wanted a good ol english pub meal by the end of our stay but this hotel was fantastic, I highly recommend you book early as it does book out. Definitely deserves 5 stars!

My husband and I spent our last three nights of our three week Italian honeymoon at this hotel, we have stayed in Venice twice before at the sister hotel of Antiche Figure just opposite which we loved but this time we thought we would try the new hotel. Well, we loved it, we had a superior room which was very grand in style, padded wall paper, grand furniture - a fab mirror that when you point the remote control it turns into a television! Only downside was that we didnt really have a view and the room was small in size, bit difficult with our huge cases. Breakfast was of a good standard of which you can eat on the balcony looking onto the Grand canal. Staff were friendly and helpful too. We enjoyed a glass of red each night after dinner in the hotel bar where you can go on the internet, read, play chess or just look out onto the lake. We will definately return.

Great location close to the train station. Very bright, clean  and well appointed room with great view of the grand canal from our small window. We had the Casanova suite that was located in the attic area of the 17th century building.  It's worth getting up early to grab a table on the balcony for breakfast. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Despite it's history and tasteful furnishings it had a real upbeat modern feel.

We had the pleasure of 3 nights in this wonderfully located hotel. The staff, decor and atmosphere were brilliant, as was the deck on the Canal at sunset. Don't stay anywhere else.

We got our travel company to swtich us to this hotel after we saw the great reviews on TA. No regrets - this place is a gem. We arrived by train, so the close proximity to the station was a real plus. We worried we might be too far from the 'action' but not at all, it is nicely located in a quieter area of Santa Croce, but all the sights are within walking distance. The hotel has a little deck to the canal side and we had breakfast, pre-dinner and post dinner drinks taking in the comings and goings of Grand Canal life - perfect! Very friendly staff - quality of service and rooms very high indeed. Nothing too much trouble. I would recommend this place to anyone going to Venice - you do get what you pay for at this place and it is well worth paying for!

Room Tip: They have Canal View rooms but in the high summer, you may find you want the shutters closed to keep...

We stayed in this hotel on the first part of our 20 day trip through Italy, Turkey and France. Hotel is very well located, walking distance from train station and bus terminal. Staff is very nice, fliendly and helpful. Room is nicely decorated, in a venetian style. Breakfast has good options of cereals, fruit, cheeses, breads and an delicious hot chocolate. If you manage to gat a room with a canal view, don´t miss it!
