“The perfect escapism”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014 via mobile

We spent three nights in this hotel, it was in a great location off the grand canal steps away from san stae station. The staff were friendly, the rooms were nice and up to standard. It was a warm and welcoming hotel with a ten minute walk to rialto. It was worth our money and would recommend anyone to stay there if they are visiting Venice. It was very relaxing and the view from our window was just perfect.

Located along the majestic Gran Canal--steps away from the San Stae vaporetto stop--the enchanting Palazzo Giovanelli welcomes its visitors. Adorned with gorgeous Venetian artwork in the rooms, hallways, and reception areas, the Palazzo Giovanelli hosts beautiful Venetian-styled luxury rooms with views overlooking the Gran Canal, a lovely courtyard, and the city's infamous Calle. A very friendly, professional staff who goes the distance in welcoming their guests makes the Palazzo Giovanelli a traveller's find. The enchanting Palazzo Giovanelli and its attentive staff have made us fall in love with Venice again. We will return soon.

Beautiful hotel on the Canal Grande. Just beside the vaporeto stop of San Stae (extremely convenient and rare as well), at the most calm and charming area of Venice. No more than fifteen minutes walk from San Marco.Clean and spacious standard double room, enormous bathroom with bathtub and extra shower, with the towels being a special surprise. Our room was facing the inner yard over a dreamy wisteria perfuming our stay. Always smiling and very kind staff.
Good breakfast, don't forget to ask for a capuccino! Rather overpriced, like every other hotel in Venice.

We stayed here for 3 nights during December 2013. Our double room was spacious, up to date and clean, with a view over the small patio garden. Perhaps you should ask for a room overlooking the canal? The reception staff were helpful and friendly, and the restaurant (where we only had breakfast) is pleasant and the breakfasts plentiful. The hotel is not far from the Rialto Bridge, though if you've never been to Venice before you might get lost once or twice along the little alleyways. If you need water transport, the hotel has its own small landing stage, or there's a waterbus stop right next door. You can also walk to the hotel from the railway and bus stations - about 10 minutes away if you don't get lost. There are plenty of little shops and cafes nearby. Overall I'd say this is a perfect place to visit this wonderful city - smart, gracious and comfortable.

Room Tip: Try for a room overlooking the canal, although it may be noisier because of the busy canal traffic.

This beautiful hotel is off the beaten path, away from the tourist areas but within walking distance of any attraction you want to see as it is on the main island. Is it located right next to a taxi wharf.
The boat from the airport will drop you at the door to the Grand Canal and you will enter a gracious and lovely lobby. Breakfast was served in a beautiful room and was delicious. There is a small garden in a walled area leading to one of the many back alleys in Venice. We had a "standard" room which was large and well furnished. The bathroom was also large with granite countertops and very lovely. Only problem was we had only one window which was a large skylight facing the sky.

Booked this thru a Telegraph offer for November. We had a superior room on fourth floor overlooking the San Stae square and boat stop. Bit noisy but bearable and good to watch the comings and goings on the Grand Canal also of course good to get on the Vaporetto from there.

Only negatives are having to pay for Wifi (in this day and age?) and the free water taxi to Murano. Should have known better. It takes you straight to waterside door of one "factory" where you get a short demo of glass blowing then tour round loads of glass products. You are a bit stuck there as only way out seems to be via their taxi back to the Faro lighthouse stop. We wasted over 20 mins waiting for a taxi. Also not convinced the prices and "discount" at the factory are good and they don't come with the Murano glass certification. Probably better prices elsewhere.

Breakfast is pretty good as you can have eggs, bacon and sausage as well as very tasty chocolate croissants and proper Twinings breakfast tea.

Having tea making facilities in room would be a good plus.
