“Wonderful place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Wife and I are expecting our first baby so we decided to take one more trip. We wanted something on the water, something with history and something away from the crowds but close enough to walk to main areas. Well we found it here at the Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli. We stayed in room 410 which is a junior suite and it was very nice. We had views of the Grand Canal and the church next door. Beds are a little hard but better than most that we have stayed at in Europe. The air conditioner worked great and had great water pressure too. The service was outstanding and they are eager to help. It is right next door to the water bus area which is really nice after a long day of walking. Behind the hotel are some "local spots" and nice little shops. We really enjoyed our time here. However, the breakfast wasn't great but it was good.

I would highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Corner Junior Suite room 410 is really nice. It was roomy and had 3 windows.

Our stay was short, only one night, but the staff was very gracious and helpful. The location was great - close to shops, and the walk to St Marks via The Rialto Bridge gave a wonderful feel of Venice. The Vaporetto Station just out the door was so convenient and we would have loved a longer stay. Our room was quite small, but the bellman offered a lounge to relax in that was just lovely. Travelling with my 2 daughters for their first trip to Venice - this was a perfect experience.

Room Tip: We loved the windows!

My wife and I had a great 5 night stay at this beautiful hotel and the staff were always very helpful. We would have scored it 5 stars if we had more storage space in our Superior room but we had stayed a little longer than most guests. We would have liked there to be room service as there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the bedroom. But these are objective comments made to help a hotel that we will certainly visit again. The Vaporetto del Arte stops at San Stae, a few steps from the hotel, and the availability of this faster and more comfortable waterbus was a real benefit. We really liked the hotel location; on the Grand Canal but within easy walking distance of St Marks and the Rialto. Very good.

The people in the front desk, bar or in the rest of the hotel have been very friendly. Without matter our language (we don't talk Italian), always have communicated with us in Spanish or English.
The location is perfect, you need take a boat from the airport and leave on San Stae station, 100 mt of the hotel.
I recommend this hotel to spend some days in Venice.

Room Tip: I don't know other rooms but you can ask for #407 it's perfect to spent 2 or 3 days in Venic...

Arriving by water taxi makes this Hotel entrance even better! We stayed overnight before our cruise left Venice. The Hotel staff were helpful, English speaking, and had some great tips about how to walk around Venice. What an experience! The little room at the top of the hotel required the bellboy to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs so we were glad they offered. The room was perfectly clean and totally comfortable...two twin beds. The full bath also spotless...but it was a good thing we were two short persons...someone 6 foot wouldnt have been able to stand in the shower! The Hotel is a little off the main tourist areas...but that is what we wanted. It was quiet and quaint...and within walking distance of everything we needed. The breakfast that was included was yummy...much better than we expected. I would definitely stay again!

Location: The Palazzo's location next to Grand Canal offers a view that is just stunning. The Vaparetto no 1 - a convenient way to reach all the interesting spots and museums in the city - is located a few steps from the Palazzo.. If you like to explore the city by foot (we walked for hours) - just step out from the beautiful garden and you will find your self on the small, narrow streets in a pretty quiet part of the city, but still just a short walk to the famous fish market and Rialto! Many good restaurants as well as cozy and genuine cafeterias in the neighborhood.

Service: the staff was very friendly and helpful! We wanted to change room to get a bigger bathroom - an surprisingly smooth procedure and we got a new room as soon as it was available!

Rooms: we stayed in two different rooms - both beautiful and clean!

Nice rooms, loved the open windows overlooking the Grand canal....Not fond of the thin cotton towels, nor the daily internet fees and lack of restaurant, but we did enjoyed the quaint beauty of this out of the way Hotel..Great location allowing us easy access to explore the maze of alleys and discovering all the niche shops and restaurants....the San Stae church next door was a beautiful example of the old churches all over Venice.
