“Beautiful Hotel in Brilliant Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Myself and my husband travelled to Venice last week (end of October 2012) and stayed in teh Ca Pagan hotel. The hotel was only a few minutes walk from two different water taxi stops and was only a short walk from St Mark's Square. The staff were lovely and friendly, and the hotel decor was beautiful and quaint, all marble and mirrors in the foyer but it was compact so it wasn't OTT or anything...it was just really lovely. We had a lovely room on the first floor, very spacious with beautiful furnishings and two big windows, and the bathroom was also gorgeous and spacious. The breakfast was also nice but standard continental (no hot extras or anything). I was really sorry we hadn't planned our trip to stay 2 nights in Venice as the city is beautiful and interesting and I would have loved another day to go exploring and visit more craft shops and not just visit the main sites, and also the hotel was lovely, well situated and not expensive (probably due to season) so another night there would have been great too!!

Love Venice. A wanderers paradise. CA' Pagan is a boutique guest house which is the perfect place to base ourselves. The receptionists were really helpful and accommodating and made us feel extra special as this visit was a treat for our anniversary. The rooms are like the city...stylish and unique. We look forward to returning!

Travelled to Venice on the train after a work meeting in Trieste, and my boyfriend met me there for the weekend. We stayed for two nights,

We decided to stay at Ca'Pagan because of 2 things.
1. we really wanted to stay on Venice since we were not staying long and thus wanted to maximize the time,
2. This was pretty much the only hotel with good reviews that fell into our budget, on the days we were looking at.

Overall despite the pouring rain, wind and cold over the weekend, we had an amazing time in Venice, only it was not long enough! we would love to come back again, and when we do would have no hesitation in staying here again.

The room was not in the main hotel, which I thought was a bit strange, but when we got there ( a few doors down the road) the room looked exactly like the pictures, and was quite nice, a decent size, clean and nice furnishings.

as it turned out, in addition to being a good decent room, there were some other pluses for this hotel.

The hotel was really well located, right near the Vaporetto stop "San Sammuel" on the grand canal, we had a 48 hour Vaporetto ticket, so everything was really very convenient, and very easy to get to. really excellent location!!

The staff at this hotel were also outstanding, extremely friendly and helpful, and this made the stay really pleasant.

we thought the price was good, although much more expensive than if it was not in venice, we thought it was good value for what we got when we compared to the other options on Venice.

we were offered a complimentary trip to Murano from the hotel, which we didn't use, since we ran out of time, as well as some tickets to a nearby exhibition.

Also had no problems with the hotel wifi - worked well

points for improvement:
the breakfast was edible but terrible, particularly I would make a suggestion that this hotel improve the bread on offer! this would made a big difference (and a second choice of cheese would be nice)

Also would have liked an English TV channel

We stayed at this hotel 8 to 12 October 2012 due to Expedia changing our hotel at the last minute. We were wary of some of the reviews with regards to there being a separate building but this was not a problem. We were put into a room in this section but it was really lovely. Not overly spacious but more than adequate. Extremely clean as was the bathroom which had an excellent big shower. The fact we had to go to the main building for breakfast was not too much of an inconvenience and would definately not stop us from going back to this hotel if we were to go back to Venice. The breakfast was always very nice and with a nice selection. All the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. It is literally seconds away from San Samuele water stop. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

This is charming accommodation, which is like a small boutique hotel or bed & breakfast. It is on a quiet side street very conveniently located. The building is 1000 years old and underwent a three year renovation three years ago. It is beautifully decorated in the Venetian style with many antiques. The staff was outstanding - very courteous and helpful. They will make restaurant, museum and theater reservations for you, which is important if you don't speak Italian. Lorna, a native English speaker, answered many of our questions before our stay. Breakfasts were typical but above average compared to similar accommodations. We highly recommend Ca' Pagan.

Stayed at this hotel recently for 3 nights. I agree with many reviews that the room was nicely decorated and quaint.

The front desk help was outstanding. Breakfast was simply average. Boiled eggs and typical cold meat, cheese and muffins.

You do need to know that there is construction on a large building immediately adjacent to the hotel. One Saturday morning was very noisey. Cranes, pounding, ext. I would have been very bothered if we were in the room during the day. Fortunately they did not work on Sunday. Also, the rooms above the hotel are apartments not part if this hotel. Heavy walking was bothersome.

Overall, although quaint I feel was overpriced for what we experienced.

We found it through web.
It's in a nice location; not too far from the areas you want to go but also not in the main noisy streets.
Rooms are nice and clean and well decorated. Stuff is polite and willing to help you all the time.

The hotel offers a free ride to Murano with a water taxi, something that is quite cool since you get a free grand canal tour!

Breakfast is not luxurious but decent.

Things that you need to check:
1. Agree upfront on the building you will be staying. The hotel has two buildings and although we were satisfied with what we got, we would prefer to know upfront that our room was not in the main building.
2. Check museum, churches and restaurants working hours. We definitely needed some tip from hotel stuff on this in advance..although it is the traveler's obligation to search for these things..

Overall, very good. Choose it if you like small hotels with character.
