“Couldn't think of a better place in Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

When planning our 5-day trip to Venice, we were really unsure what hotel to pick from this huge choice. The AD Place seemed to have the right mix of good central location, nice style and reasonable price. We selected the small suite, as hotel rooms in cities are sometimes really small- just to be sure to have some space. Upon arrival, we were presented with a free upgrade to the large suite, which of course was more than awesome! The staff was always very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and nicely decorated. The views from our four (!) windows were toward a canal crossing, where there were gondolas with singing gondolieros from morning ot evening. Besides that wonderful sound, just quiet. Only a ten minute walk to the Rialto bridge or to the other direction ten minutes to the San Marco place.

Venice itself is spectacular. While I would love to give this place a higher rating as the view we had out our window was amazing, I just CAN NOT get over the fact that our room had bedbugs. Nothing more needs to be said.

Dear Guest,

in regard to your review, we are sorry to inform you that there is a substantial difference between a bed bug bite and a mosquito bite. Our Hotel is located in Venice which is a city that lies on a lagoon, which is notoriously a low water mirror, contributing to mosquito proliferation.
Also, we never received complaints about bed bugs, as we are very attentive to disinfect and cleaning each room every day. On the other side, we are aware that you can't help the presence of mosquitoes that are, in Venice and of course in summer (when you stayed here) and especially this past summer, pretty much everywhere. We strongly recommend you to read the local newspapers that write about this matter.

Regards,

Alessandro Volcan

We booked the Junior suite for our stay in September 2013, encouraged from the fantastic tripadvisor reviews. Arriving at the hotel the impression of the reception was already quite mixed. We loved the lanterns and the friendly receptionist. But the rest of the interior design felt a bit cheap, the large velvet curtains along the walls look much better in pictures than real life. Check-in was efficient and friendly. The junior suite was such a big disappointment. It's on the ground floor, and even though it has 3 or 4 windows, we didn't want to open them as there is a walkway just outside and people could look in. You can hear people walk just outside of your window, even with windows closed. This made the room so dark and closed in, with the dark carpet and wallpaper we felt like in a Tim Burton movie, but not in a good way. We came to Italy for the light and the sun! One of the windows opened directly above the canal which was charming at first but we felt overlooked again with the gondolas going by. Also, a lot of mosquitoes came through this window as they live close to water, so we kept it shut. The bathroom was tiny, the sink down at children's height. We immediately asked for another room but the hotel was fully booked. On day 2 of our stay we asked for another room again, and we were "downgraded" to a standard double room. When we walked into the standard room all the positive tripadvisor feedback made sense. It was light, airy, had fantastic views over the canal - we loved it! Beautifully decorated in green & purple, and we loved that it didn't have carpet but a beautiful stone floor. Even the bathroom was bigger than in the junior suite. The downgrade was a definite upgrade!

Breakfast is good, but you have to go early as after 9:45 nothing is replaced and a lot of the nicer things are gone.

On the whole it is a nice hotel but our experience with the junior suite was so disappointing that I'm not sure if we will return. The staff was super friendly and made all the efforts for us to change room. The service throughout is very good. Also, the roof terrace is a fantastic feature, great views and a relaxed atmosphere, we spent a lot of our time there.
For all those reasons I definitely can recommend this hotel, as long as you get a room that's not on the ground floor.

Room Tip: For a view and light, go for a room on the 1 floor.

This is a lovely hotel hidden away in the back streets, but what a delight. The rooms are beautifully decorated with indulgent fabric on the walls and chandeliers hanging from the ceilings. The hotel is surrounded by the canals so you often hear the gondoliers go by singing at the top of their voices which is so atmospheric.
Great location just 2 minutes from the hub bub, really in Venice every corner you turn takes you to another piazza or historical building.
Lovely staff, good breakfast, great bathrooms and a comfy bed! The small balcony area at the top of the hotel is also a great place to sit and have a drink or a coffee just listening to the sounds of the city all around you.
(Nb have scored the swimming pool and restaurant as excellent as once I clicked it wouldn't let me Un-click but there is no pool and the restaurant is only open for breakfast, which is good, it is a small 12 room hotel)

Just came back from a short trip to Venice for our wedding anniversary and while in Venice we stayed at AD Place for 3 nights. The staff is very friendly and the hotel/rooms are very clean. It is a small hotel, only 12 rooms, so you are greeting when arriving by your name, which doesn't happen in a lot of hotels. We got an upgrade from a superior room to a suite, which was incredible!! The location is fantastic (5-10 min from San Marco square, 15 min from Rialto, right next to the La Fenice theater). The bed is huge and very comfortable. I have read the negative reviews before going (although they weren't a lot of them, they got me worried). But none of them turned out to be true.

Great little hotel, in a perfect location, a stone's throw away from all the major sights. Pretty rooms, decorated in romantic violet and yellow colours. Very comfortable beds, and the bathroom is big and airy as well. The breakfast was delicious, with tasty tarts, croissants, and cakes, and the coffee is always fresh and aromatic. The staff was really helpful and kind. Very recommended.

This romantic boutique hotel is in a perfect location. The lobby is lit at night with lanterns and during the day you notice the rich fabrics and colors. Our lovely room had a canopied bed and as others have mentioned, you can open the window and hear opera. After a day of crowds and sightseeing, enjoy a spritz on the roof top patio. Wonderful breakfast and as with everything the Ad Place does, a beautiful visual presentation (note the flatware, cups, etc). But, the best part may be the incredibly helpful staff, especially Alessandro.
