“Enjoyed this restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

We walked in off the street without booking ahead and were fortunate to get a table at 9 pm. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere and the service.

“what a find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

On our first night in Venice we found this place after getting lost no booking but they found us a table, words cannot do the food justice, the atmosphere great evening.

The rest of the week we explored a few others, but nothing could compare to our first night, so on our last night we booked a table for a repeat visit, the place was really busy we had to wait for a table, but the staff where apologetic gave us free drinks 30 minutes later we where sat eating.

The food was excellant in both quality, quantity and presentation.

This is one place you have visit.

“Best Tiramisu ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Great value, very friendly staff, our plates tasted very nice and it was easy to see that they used good quality raw materials to prepare them.
Probably the highlight of the evening was the dessert, it was great!
Only "negative" point is the size of the tables - yes, they the environment is cozy but I wouldn't mind having a bit of more space.

“If you like lots of polenta, you'll like Da Mamo”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

This small tightly-packed restaurant nearly didn't have a table for us even though we'd booked but eventually gave us a table (and were very apologetic about the confusion). We noted there wasn't an Italian in the place which we had thought was just because of the area (near the Rialto) but having seen many locals in that area later on, maybe not...The food we both felt was so-so - my husband had three slabs of polenta in all between starter and main course and my ravioli was overcooked. But the waiter put on an entertaining, quite mannered performance when serving us, including a quirky thing with the cork from the wine bottle. Friendly tourist place but I think the food is over-rated on this website.
