Finding a decent restaurant in Venice without paying ridiculous rates doesn't seem to be very easy.
Tucked away in a part of Venice (Cannaregio) away from the maddening crowds, Ristorante Diana provides good food and a relaxed family-run atmosphere for what is a competitive price. We ate there three times, we spent between 20 and 40 EUR per person for a 2/3 course meal but one can spend a lot more.
Some courses were excellent, some a little less exciting but always at a good standard. Generous portions and really excellent desserts (Ricotta Cake and Lemon Cake were wonderful) made for a very satisfying experience.
