“Appalling food, horrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

We stopped one night in mid June to have a meal and was sold by the maitre the idea of a tourist menu €15 meal. We sat down and the unpleasant waiter gave us only the a La Carte menu. He grumpily then got the tourist menu for us. In the meantime on an adjacent table people walked away without ordering. Wish we had! We ordered two course which came on one plate and were very poor quality and almost in edible the waiter threw down the menu in disgust when we ordered a tourist meal
We left €50 poorer and very disenchanted with Venetian restaurants
The location was brilliant - it does not deserve this restaurant!

We had a quick meal here one night in our recent visit to Venice. The food was great and served promptly. However one staff member was loudly rude and arrogant to a party at a table nearby. I think the people had misunderstood the way the meals were provided and paid for but the waiter's handling of this was appalling. Quite off putting for us and did make the experience less than optimal.
It is a great location, overlooking a canal. Would be good if they made it far more pleasant to dine there.

Room Tip: There are some very good restaurants and bistros in this area that offer a better all round experien...

We arrived a day late to this hotel due to transport issues and instead of turning us away they put us in one of the rooms being refurbished, when this is finished they are going to have some lovely rooms. The existing rooms are a bit shabby but they are a value one star hotel in a great location so you get what you pay for. The location is brilliant, a short walk from the bus terminal and train station.

1) You won't spend a lot at Hotel Marte.
2) It's very conveniently located (close to the main railway station, on the way to Piazza San Marco), in a very nice area.
These are the only good news about this accomodation.
The bedrooms are frankly scary.
The staff.. where are the staff?
Our air-cond machine was so noisy that we couldn't use it during the night.
it's a good solution only for young (and vaccinated) backpackers.

We were looking for a good value hotel close to the train station just for one night. If we had of been staying longer I would of checked out. We stayed in the sister hotel across the way. Yes the hotel is in a good location on the canal, the staff were helpful and friendly, beds were comfortable, the room was warm and breakfast was great. BUT it was really shabby which wouldn’t have been a problem if it were clean! The bathroom light didn’t work nor did any of the plug sockets. The WC and sink were located in a tiny area with the shower virtually over the loo. To get to the room you pasted dozens of derelict mini bar fridges and bed frames. The worse was we were bitten in the room/bed, probably fleas! We loved Venice and hope to return but not to this establishment.

Room Tip: Insist on staying in the main hotel.

Our hostel had some problems so they sent us here. They only had on room right under the roof, but my friend was able to get the price down from 40 to 30 EUR/night (we were there for 3 nights). It's an ok hotel. But they lock the door at 2 am and you won't be able to get the key to your room after that. Try to live without the local cups, as I really doubt they actually wash them.

This hotel has a terrible restaurant with really arrogant staff. Don't go and eat here if you are after a good meal and a memorable moment. Besides that the staff is rude the prices for the meals are not worth what you get for it.
