My girlfriend booked two nights at Angeles Inn for my birthday. It is approximately a 15min walk from the main bus terminal in Venice (Piazzale Roma), buy your tickets at the airport. 20 min bus journey 6 euros pp one way. We approached the B and B from the Casino side, which can be a little confusing, so for the rest of our trip we entered off the main street, Rio Terra d Maddalena, down a side street in between shops/restuarant. We had confirmed with the owners our arrival time and Arnulfo was waiting for us. Secure front door, key fob entry. We were shown to our double ensuite room on the first floor. It was very spacious and traditionally decorated. The bathroom (with shower) was smaller but both rooms were immaculate. The bathroom looked very new. Hairdyer, linen, shower gel sachets and TV provided. Arnulfo wished us well for our stay and then we set off to explore.
The area around San Marco can get very busy. As it was a clear day we went up the Campanile 8 euros each, waited around 15min in a queue but it moved pretty quickly. The view was fantastic. We wandered along the back streets, often quieter than the main routes. Prices for food and drink rose, the closer we got to the main tourist attractions.
The bed in our room was huge and very comfortable. The only problem was the noise in the morning from within the B and B (no street noise at all) As we were on the first floor, we had rooms above us and the floors are not carpeted and so from 7am both mornings, we heard the doorbell/intercom ring, doors shutting and then constant moving around from the occupants above us. Opt for a room on the second floor if possible!
Breakfast was served on the delightful roof top terrace and consisted of crossaints, rolls, yoghurts, fruit, juice, tea and coffee. A really lovely start to the day.
We had a gondola ride. 60 euros for 30min, and we asked to be taken along some of the quieter routes. Yes, its a lot of money, but its a once in a life time experience!
We walked everywhere, twisting and turning along the narrow paths and getting lost, but thats all part of it if you are not in a hurry.
Entrance to the main palace cost 16 euros each. Again, there were queues, but not very long. On our last day Arnulfo took us to the shop that he and Valentina own, and we were able to leave our luggage securely until our departure time.
Angeles Inn is a gem of a B and B, and the owners really made us feel welcome and were so keen to please. Great accomodation, a short walk away from all of the sights. Thankyou Arnulfo and Valentina
