“Worth coming to Venice for this.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We found Osteria ai Carmini in the rain while wading through an alta aqua. Too tired to make our own meal we wandered into this little gem of a restaurant near Campo Santa Margherita around the corner from our apartment. What a surprise. The owner gently suggested a plate of Venice seafood specialties (28 euro for two), which turned out to be a revelation. Too good to miss!

“Great find”

Fabulous little restaurant and would reccomend any time. Great food and had such a laugh with the owner and the Chef. Go for the lemon digestive to help the huge portions go down!!

“What a joy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

This little restaurant down a side calle by the Carmini is well worth discovering. Its quality was recoomended to us by a Venetian several years ago, and we are delighted to report that it's as good as ever. A young team has the spirit and approach that win admiration - including a chef who really knows his business. We enjoyed sitting outside but never being ignored, and consequently went there three times in four days! Valentino the waiter was superb; working long hours but really committed to the osteria, and always very personable and good-humoured. He's a guy who will do well in this line if it's his chosen career. The food was great for all tastes; fish was much complimented by the diners (scallops were beautifully prepared and served on rocket with a great dressing, and those sweet little Venetian clams were fresh and cooked to perfection) and the vegetable risotto was absolutely magnificent. We also thought the home-made tiramisu was the best ever. Superb chillled prosecco at 8 euros a mezzo-litro was rightly very tempting on every occasion. just round the corner from the thrumming student ambience of Campo San Margherita, this place is a calm and stylish oasis - a secret to share?

“Venice's best kept secret!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Your Venetian experience is not complete without a stop at Osteria ai Carmini! Daniele di Biasotto is the young chef and owner of this little gem. His passion and love for cooking comes through in the taste and presentation of his dishes. He also provides an attentive service where he himself ensures that you are loving his food. Of the many delicious dishes we ordered over our FREQUENT visits this past August, the Baccala Mantecanto served as an appetizer (creamy whipped salted cod) is THE BEST in Venice! Other amazing meals were his bistecca, calamari and his fish risotto. This restaurant is an absolute must stop on your next visit to Venice! He also has takeout if you don't have time to stop for a sit down meal. - The Colavecchio family, Canada

“Delicious even for non seafood eaters!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012 via mobile

Happened upon this delightful restaurant when looking for the very nearby opera/ballet theatre (at the end of the street). Very helpful and friendly wait staff suggested a most delicious vegetable risotto (not actually on the menu). Very reasonable price for an authentic venetian meal! Highly recommend!!
