“Amazing hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

We stayed at this hotel just for one night but had a unforgettable experience. Although is really close to Rialto's Bridge, it could be a little difficult to find the hotel the first time (not their fault but is more because of Venice's little narrow streets and bridges). When we arrived and did the check in, they upgraded our reservation to a suite in the top floor of the hotel, where we had the most amazing view of the hole city! The room was really clean and comfortable, good bathroom and a very delicious breakfast buffet service. The location of the hotel is quite strategic, and you can find yourself in Rialto or in St Mark Square within 5 minutes.

This hotel is fairly new to the Venice scene but is based in a lovely historic building which has been tastefully converted into this small Hotel. You can arrive at the hotel by water taxi - a good experiece and you will be greeted by friendly helpful staff. 2pm is the official arrival time but you can have your room earlier if it is ready for use. The hotel fronts onto a rapidly developing Square and the back is onto a canal. At the moment it offers B & B basis which is served in a lovely area with pleanty to choose from. There is also a small friendly bar for an evening drink or two. This hotel has just the right combination of old and modern, the types of room differ and I am sure you will find your choice. The painted ceilings in the public area are very beautiful to admire. Staff go out of their way to be helpful - give it a try you will love it - a fair price and quite but central.

Room Tip: The classic rooms are spacious and you may be upgraded for free.

Very friendly staff. Delicious breakfast, room was very clean and updated bathroom. Great location, just a few minute walk to St. Marks and close to the Rialto Bridge. They also provide nice umbrellas when it rains. Water taxi and gondola pickup available right from hotel lobby

After staying in 2 other 4 star hotels in Italy, this one didn't even come close to measuring up. Where do I begin? Upon check in, I was told that my standard room was unavailable, so I would be upgraded to a suite for the first night. Unfortunately, the room was big but the shower and the safe didn't work. When we got into our standard room, it was small and dingy. Cleanliness was an issue, as several fingerprints on windows and mirrors were found, as well as a fair amount of dust. The staff was rude and pompous. They were inattentive to many of our requests. They were only concerned with trying to sell us boat trips for 150 euro. We had to leave our keys at the front when exiting the hotel and had to call down to the front desk to have the thermostat changed. In addition, I was not allowed to use an iron because they said it was a hazard. Can you say, "control freaks"? I would never recommend this tourist trap.

Spent 2 nights at this hotel and stayed in a Deluxe room. Plenty of space and a good mixture of comfort and style. Looked out over the square in front of the hotel, which is probably the best view. We were a little unlucky that the local children seem to gather in the corner of the square where the hotel is situated and play football, from about 8am until 8pm. Not a real problem as you are out for most of the day but on both days we did come back to the hotel during the day and there was about 20 playing football and the noise does disturb the comfort of your room (not wishing to sound like a complete moaning misery but this hotel is not cheap!)

However, the rooms were very clean and the staff very helpful with advice and ordering taxis and recommending tours etc.

The breakfast is very basic with a few choices of cereals, fruit, hams etc but had expensive additions including boiled and fried eggs all at about 8 euros each. We stayed in three hotels during our trip and none charged extra for this type of food and had much more choice than this hotel and all less expensive.

On the last day we eat in the restaurant just on the right as you come out of the hotel as it was close. I would not recommend it to anyone. The service was so poor it was laughable, the waiter just stood by the table and gave us some menus, a few minutes later he came back and just stood beside us - out of embarrassment we asked for more time so he walked off. He came back and again stood there and we ordered our food, a few minute later he brought bread to the table and said: 'bread' and walked off. He did speak English but it all was too much trouble and you then find they have added 5 euros to the bill for service!!

I would recommend the hotel a good base for seeing the sights of Venice, about a 6 -10 minute walk to St Marks Sq and all other famous attractions.

Dear Mr. BryanS,
Thank you for your time to leave your review about your recent stay with us, we are glad that you mostly appreciated our service and would like to clarify to our readers that scrambled and boiled eggs are available at the breakfast buffet at no extra cost. Prices listed on the menu are only if you ask for express extras. About kids playing football during the afternoon on the Square on front of the Hotel, we rather look at them like something mostly typical, on a town like our where locals are less and less year after year. We regret for the bad experience you had with a Restaurant outside our Hotel, we wish only to inform our readers that a separate review would be more fair. Next time, we suggest you to accept our concierge suggestions. We hope to have once the pleasure of seeing you again in our Ruzzini Palace, Thanks!

First off, pulling up in a boat is an experience in itself. So cool! Then, to be greeted by an amazing staff was a pleasant surprise. We had a great room that overlooked the canal. Although the balcony was not large enough to sit outside, it was till a balcony. We brought our bench out there for people watching and taking in the atmosphere.

Through the "front door" is the gateway to the city. Easy access to everything.

Our room was spacious and had a desk with a mirror that I could use as a vanity while my fiancee showered in the bathroom.

The bartender was awesome and served a great martini.

The boat ride they suggest, although 140 euro was expensive, was WELL worth it. Claudio our guide was awesome.

Be sure to have euros before entering the hotel because cash stations are hard to find and some dont work.

All in all, amazing hotel and I will stay here when I return!

Room Tip: Balcony on the canal side.

I just fell in love for Venice and pretty sure that the Ruzzini hotel has it part on it. We stayed there for 4 nights in a big and amazing room. It was comfortable and clean, right on front of a lovely square and away from the mess and the noise from San Marco Piazza. Great breakfast and such a lovely staff. Can't wait to visit the lovely Venice and the Ruzzini Hotel again.
