This place was highly recommended by Japanese blogger who lives in Italy.
Since my hotel was only steps away from this osteria, I had my first lunch here right after I arrived in Venice.
First, I really liked the ambience of this place. Typical look of Venezian Bacaro at the front with
many locals having chat with a glass of prosecco.
I noticed a woman in the bar counter talking on the cell phone very loud (Had no clue what she was upset about...). My first order was an appetizer "Mixed Seafood Platter" was just fine, nothing special. Then I ordered 'Venezian Liver", waited about 25 minutes.. 30 minutes.. found out they forgot my order. It's OK, I understand.. I was by myself and just ordered 2 dishes, there were group of locals having some kind of celebration in the back room.
I was really OK with that.
Then my "Liver" dish came.... it just didn't look like the liver I expected. It was pale color liver and onion swimming in the super soft polenta (Almost like gravy). Certainly not like the picture
in the BLOG !
So, I asked the woman (My mistake to ask her..) "This does not look anything like this picture" in the nice way with smile. She look at the print out and started yelling at me in Italian.
Then she came out with hard cooked "Polenta" and placed violently on my table.
At this moment, I Iost my appetite..so, I paid and left.
I have been to Italy many times, but I have never experienced this kind of treatment.
May be I was there in the bad timing with bad chef.. but be careful for that nasty woman !
