10min walk from the train station, so no need to worry about getting a water taxi, however there are a few stairs to get over the bridge on the main canal, so pack lightly to save your arms.
Located on the quieter side of the canal, this hotel allows you to get always from the overly busy streets, yet they can be walked to in only a couple of minutes.
Venice is a maze, so you will need the free map that they give you when checking in. The Rialto is about 15mins walk, with St Marc's about 30-45min.
The nearby station made it easy for us to also use the big water ferry stop and also do a day trip from the station. We then also walked to the bus stop next to the station to get the Aerobus to Marco Polo airport, which takes about 25mins and costs €6.
Beautiful old building which has been fully renovated with the main common areas being bright and fresh. We were lucky enough to be upgraded at checkin and had a big sized room with excellent water pressure in the shower (the best by FAR in Europe). Marble floor in the bathroom and a comfortable bed.
One slight annoyance was that the wifi is only in the common area, however we knew this in advance. Having said that the wifi was fast and the common lounge area has loads of chairs and is very comfy and a quiet area to relax in.
The included breakfast was excellent, with the usual continental spread, but also bacon and eggs available. Coffee is made fresh with espresso, cappuccino etc also on offer.
Really friendly staff, some of the best we have ever experienced. Reception, house keeping, breakfast staff, they were all sensational. Smiles from every one of them, which was almost a shock after staying in other hotels.
