“We loved this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2011

What a surprise this hotel was. It was like an old fashioned country cottage, with a cute little room for breakfast. We could just see the canal from our spacious room. It was very quiet, comfortable and clean. Fabulous location only a stones throw from the main piazza. There was a wide selection of food available for breakfast. Definitely recommend this place to stay, and we were sorry they could only fit us in for two nights.

Perfect little hotel. Clean, comfortable. Nice breakfast, but just as nice to sit in one of the cafes nearby to have your latte & brioches. Would highly recommend this hotel, & Treviso.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2009

My wife and I stayed at the Albergo il Focolare in early November 2009 with our 8 and 15 year old daughters. Our room was on the third floor with windows on three sides of the room. The bed was just about the most comfortable I ve had in a hotel in a long time (and I travel around three to four times annually). The bathroom was spacious, clean and well equipped. Views from the room were beautifull and the decor (throughout) is lovely. The hotel is bang in the centre of Treviso. Although Saturday was quite lifely in and outside the establishments around the hotel, I could not say they were noisy. Breakfast is more like high tea with a vast selection of delicious cakes and biscuits. This however was not to my taste as I prefer a proper healthy breakfast. For me there was a good selection of cerials and yogurts. The hotel lacks a lift which is typical of many hotels of this sort. Other than that, absolutely no complaints and looking forward to our next trip to Treviso where we would undoubtedly book the Albergo il Focolare once again!

My partner & I stayed there in June for a long weekend. It is in an excellent central location, Treviso is a charming, walled, cafe society tradional Italian town. It is exceptionally clean with lots of designer shops, bars & restaurants.
The hotel is clean and perfectly comfortable for the little time you would need to be there. Yes its a little noisy in the evening but the music we heard was classical and it all came to an end befor 1 am in the morning, quite acceptable for a Saturday evening - the people on here who are critical should be more careful about choosing their location!
Breakfast is BASIC, probably best to go to one of the many many cafes and have fresh croissants with some of the wonderful coffee!
15 euro fixed fare from the airport in he taxi (it takes 15 mins) and the railway station is accessible for a day trip to Vince for around 12 euro per person return.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Rooms extremely basic, air-conditioning not working, when you plugged in your hairdryer it tripped all of the lights in the room. Very basic bathroom with very slippery shower. The bar did not open until the evening and there was no where to sit outside. The rooms at the front of the hotel were noisy which didn’t help when the air-conditioning didn’t work and therefore could not open the windows.

Certainly would not return and would not recommend this hotel

I don't understand why people have complained about this hotel. We stayed here with our 6 month year old baby. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were recently renovated and very nice. We too were in room 30, the noise was okay, our baby slept fine. We closed the windows and turned on the air conditioning and could not hear the noise outside. It was a fabulous hotel. We had just come from Venice where we paid a lot more for a very dingy hotel. Treviso is a great city, great shopping and great bars. The location of the hotel is very central .

  • Liked — The rooms, very comfortable, clean and nice decor
  • Disliked — That breakfast didn't start until 7.45 as we had to leave at 7 for our flight

We booked our stay in this hotel direct while we were travelling and am now quite surprised by some of the reviews here. it is very central and if your room is low down possibly a bit noisy but its right in the centre of town so you've got to expect that. We were on the 3rd / top floor and were woken only by the church bells for Mass in the morning!

The hotel is tucked away just off the main square and there are some cool bars / osterias nestling in some of the surrounding alleys. if you're intending to enjoy food and a drink and soak up some of the leisurely evening atmosphere, this is a good spot. We found it noteworthy how many families were out late and what a thoroughly pleasant atmostphere this made. we didn't see any of the sort of marauding groups you might find in UK town centres...

The room was pleasant, light and airy although the bathroom was rather dated, if clean. the communal areas of the hotel were pretty - someone has made a real effort.

The hotel is right in the pedestrian area and so has no parking. We were directed to a parking lot just by the ring-road. not ideal but actually its only a 5-10 min walk so not as bad as it sounds.

Overall a good place from which to enjoy the city for a couple of days. Yes, there are some downsides but these are to be expected in a town centre location.
