“Old and overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

This is not 4 star hotel. The room was outdated and very small with dusty curtains, no glasses, only plastic cups. The door to the bathroom was broken. Refrigerator in the room was very noisy. Staff try to be helpful and hotel is well situated, close to train station and city center. We had breakfast included in the room rate but because of early morning flight we have asked hotel staff to pack some croissants or sandwiches for children. They promised to do this but forgot about our request.

We arrived at the hotel by taxi costing only 15 euros from Treviso Airport (Mostly Ryanair). It is just within the historic city walls and a short walk from the centre.
Whist I would agree with the comments about the hotel not being 4 star and a little dated, it was immaculately clean and comfortable; with pleasant and helpful staff. Our family room was a suite of two interconnecting bedrooms.
Treviso far exceeded our expectations being a fascinating mix of history and a wide range of independent shops. It has a number of small fast flowing crystal clear rivers flowing through it and around the city walls.
The hotel is five minutes walk from the station, frequent trains to Venice take about 35 minutes and cost only about 3 Euros.

The hotels is rated as 4-star, which is indeed misleading. It's old and worn, and ready for makeover. My room was very small, with space for only 1 single-bed. The batroom offered a faulty sink, where water could not drip off in a timely manner. Shower cabinet too was half broken. The breakfest is very limited, and not recommendable. Dry bread, overcooked eggs, tasteless tomatoes....

Hotel's location though is very central and convenient for staying in Treviso. It's close to the main squares, and train station. Personell very firendly.

We decided to go in this hotel is because is located very close to train station and it`s very easy for visit Venice. Furniture in hotel is very old, location is OK, and the best thing is free hotel parking. Treviso in very nice and cute town.

We stayed a week at the Hotel Carlton and found it ideally located to explore the town of Treviso and also to use the hotel as a base for exploring the Veneto or just to take the short 30 min train journey to Venice. Both train and bus stations are only a couple of minutes walk over the road.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful , whatever the query and for a non - Italian speaker I was pleased that they spoke English! Great choice at breakfast and Italian style snacks available all day.
It is a comfortable stay and good value. If you think you might have an issue with traffic noise early morning then simply request a room on the other side of the hotel. If you want a spa, pool , fitness centre etc. this is not the hotel for you but otherwise a safe bet for a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Treviso side room avoids traffic noise.

Treviso is an overlooked town that is conveniently located near to Venice. The Carlton Hotel is in the best position to allow you to enjoy both locations, it is less than 100 metres from the bus station and 200 metres from the railway station. Venice is a twenty minute train ride away (very regular service throughout the day) and a return ticket costs 5.50 euros per person.
The hotel itself is modern and upmarket, it is not unusual to see the cabin crews of local airlines staying there. Our room was located on the third floor and was very tidy and clean and boasted one of the biggest beds we have ever slept in. The staff were exceptionally helpful and cheerful and available throughout the day and night which is handy if you have a late flight into Treviso.airport. The breakfast would set anyone up for the day and consisted of cold meat cuts, cheeses, cereals, fresh fruits, toast, eggs, sausages, breads, pastries, cake and so much more.
If you find yourself in Treviso do yourselves a favour and spend a little time exploring the town, they don't call it 'Little Venice' for nothing.

We stayed for a couple of nights and were very pleased. It was a good price, just a few hundred metres from the train station. Rooms were spacious and clean, bed was huge! The breakfast was truly excellent, cereal, yogurt, crusty bread, olives, meat, cheese, lovely coffee - what more could one ask for?

Train fair was only 22 Euros for four of us and the journey was only 20 minutes or so, worked out much cheaper than staying in Venice. We recommend The Carlton.
