“Lovely little hotel with a lot of character & great service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

I stayed at Novecento over a long weekend in March with a large group of friends - there were approx 20 of us from across Europe and we had a wonderful time. This is a lovely little hotel with a lot of character - we liked the decor and the fireplace in the lounge. The room was good with a balcony but we didnt get to use it as it was so cold. Overall we had a great time. The hotel is only a short 10 minute walk to the town with all the shopping and the shuttle service was great and always prompt. The staff at the hotel could not do more to help us and make us feel welcome. They were truly fabulous! They helped four of us to book us into the wonderful thermal spa 10 minutes away (which I would strongly recommend but best on weekday). The spa area in the hotel was okay - the jacuzzi was not hot enough in my view so I only used it once. However, the massage was AMAZING - if you're there, definitely get a massage (even if only a 30 min one) and the masseuse is very talented- many of my friends had a massage by her and they all raved about her too - I had a sore neck and back and it really helped. A minor criticism was the hairdryer in the bathroom - for someone with thick long hair, it took forever to dry! The walls are quite thin so you can hear everything - didnt help when I was trying to have an afternoon siesta! If you're a light sleeper, best to opt for a room higher up (we were on the 1st floor)

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, opt for a room higher up in the building.

The service was very kind and helpful. The spa section was ok and the food was the best we had in Courmayeur (better than the #1 rated restaurant). The shuttle bus to and fr.o.m. the ski lift was great.

Great hotel, perfect location & very relaxing. Free shuttle to & from the ski lifts also offered by the hotel. We had B&B, breakfast was really good but keep you eye on your egg (you have to put in the water to boil and some took ours!).

Booked at the last minute for a five days ski trip to Courmayeur and was advised that this hotel would be ideal. Super friendly staff and so helpful. Resturant was of a high standard great breakfast and dinner each day with a well priced wine list. Our room was small and onsuite did have rather a lot of unnesscary clutter, but it is a old building with great charm. We certainly would go back.

Room Tip: We had room 1935 which had two windows with great views.

Nice hotel all round. Pleasant, friendly service, reception staff very polite and willing. Room fine, kept very clean but they do tidy your things!! Turn down service nice. Spa nice with jacuzzi (bit too cool), steam room and sauna. Didn't use the gym, but it had a treadmill and few other pieces. Breakfast was broad and inclusive, pretty much everything there. Great scrambled eggs and bacon with boil-able eggs, gravadlax, meats, cheese, bread, cereals, nuts, preserves, different types of honey etc. Had dinner out each night - you must try pizza tunnel! Shuttle on demand to the lifts and a 7 minute walk into town - perfect! Quiet hotel for sleeping - fluffy pillows and mem foam bed. Firm-ish but very good night's sleep. Superior room had view of mountain and wide bed. No bath though, just a shower. Easy parking too. 2.5 hours from Milan.

Room Tip: Superior room booked but this only had a shower - no bath.

My family and I spent a week at the Novocento in the middle of ski season. We had a mini-suite on the top floor. While it had good square footage, the ceilings were a bit low, and I banged my head any number of times. The hotel features free parking, and the price included breakfast and WiFi (which is good because this place is expensive at high season). The wifi worked sometimes in the room, and I heard from other guests that it was patchy in their rooms. The breakfast selection consisted of various pastries, cereals, eggs, sausages, meats, cheeses, and sometimes salmon. Ask if you don't see something you want. Dinner was quite good in the restaurant, but I would recommend not getting half-board, because that will deprive you of the other nice restaurants in the area.

The hotel operates a private shuttle for guests to the Dolonne gondola, which is a far better approach to hills than the larger funivia. The staff is helpful with things under their control. Wifi wasn't one o them, however. So, come to this hotel to ski, not to work.

Room Tip: Ask for something below the top floor.

We had a quick 4 night ski break. From the moment we stepped into the hotel all staff were charming and couldn't be more helpful. Comfortable without being over glamorous, lovely room with a view of the mountains. Food was superb. Only non Italian wine on the list was Champagne, which we thought fair enough, and some wines were great. Only slight drawback was a 10 min walk to ski lift, but minibus was always on hand, and again, couldn't be more helpful. Cpurmayfur isn't a purpose built ski in out resort, so a minor quibble. Thoroughly recommended

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Live again the enchantment of the first years of the last century in the Romantik Hotel Villa Novecento of Courmayeur: an authentic travel at the beginning of the 1900's, an aesthetic experience in a refined and elegant atmosphere, in one of the more evocative landscape frames of the Alps. A precious witness of the Courmayeur of those years today lives again in the Romantik Hotel Villa Novecento, few steps away from the pedestrian centre of this historical village. A carefully historical recovery work lasted more than two years has carried to the rebirth of an ancient alpine noble house, today centre of a hotel de charme of rare beauty. From the original façade to the halls, from the restaurant to the rooms and suites rigorously style furnished, all reveal a setting of great charme, captivating atmosphere and refined details of the past. Antique furniture and precious fabrics, warm and welcoming rooms with views over the Mont Blanc make this hotel particularly special. A particular care has been dedicated to the restaurant "Novecento", faithful to the ancient gastronomic traditions and sincerity of bygone food. Among the little concessions to modernity, but also always in mountain style, a pleasant Fitness Centre equipped with sauna, Turkish bath, mini swimming pool with Jacuzzi and relax zone. Of course, the twentieth-century rooms offers also the services of a first category hotel, such as safe deposit box, satellite TV, direct dialling telephone with Internet connection, but the atmosphere is undoubtedly the one of the last century, the 1900's that makes live again the exciting vacation of the mountain pioneers for which Courmayeur was the comfortable and luxury base field for the adventures along the Mont Blanc's glaciers. The great top, yesterday like today, is always show of inexpressible beauty, and the Romantik Hotel Villa Novecento really makes feel like those bygone pioneers, ready to meet with the Mont Blanc, even through the not far breathtaking cableway that from Courmayeur leads you quickly in the large "sea of ice", one of the natural wonders of the world. For the local inhabitants, Mont Blanc is not simply an icy mountain made up of glaciers and majestic rocks. Mont Blanc is life itself, it symbolises the deep-rooted and ancient reasons that make this town and its people special, it gives it a stamp of authenticity which not even time can erase. The richness of the environment and nature, the possibility to go hiking and "touch" local fauna make this area an important tourist attraction for mountain lovers following marked out paths and guided along the way by nature guides. ... more   less
