“Good Location in Cervinia”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

It is only a few minutes to the lift and Inghams' ski hire shop. And it is even nearer to ski back to the hotel, This is the closest you can get to ski-in and out.

This hotel has good reviews for food so this raised our expectations, and consequently set us up for disappointment. The food is fine, but not great. There is good choice at breakfast and different hot food on offer each morning. Coffee machine is offered instead of fresh coffee, so a huge MINUS for me. They do try to be interesting with their dinner and carve roast pork joints in the restaurant, but the general consensus is that the food is just fine. Vegetarian choices is poor, almost omelettes everyday.

Staff are pleasant and helpful, and engaging in conversation. There is a good ambiance in the restaurant and hotel.

The rooms are pleasant and while you have a bath, you can't hang the shower so showering is abit incumbersome.

The ski room is so small, just a corridor really so if you are late back, There is no room to put your skis. We are ski-ing in March so what is it like in high season?

Room Tip: No great views so it doesn't really matter.

The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and the food is of a decent level (evening meals better than the breakfast). Keep in mind it's a two star hotel, the rooms are basic but comfortable enough to sleep well in (especially after a long day's skiing).

The hotel is very close to the Cretaz chair lift, and there are various bars near by also.

The one strange aspect of our stay was that all bought drinks with the evening meal were paid for on each evening. It may have made life simpler to be able to charge them to the room and settle at check-out.

stayed here for a weeks skiing with inghams and chose the hotel after some of the good reviews on trip advisor. I have to say that these raised expectations so we were actually a little bit disappointed. The hotel is 2* and pretty basic in ALL aspects. The food is just about acceptable and reasonably plentiful but certainly not "delicious". The hotel owners and staff were however very friendly and couldn't be faulted. Liking a nice HOT bath after a hard days skiing my only other real gripe was that I was dissapointed to find the water each night only just hot enough. All this said though, talking to other inghams guests in resort it sounded like our 2* hotel was actually better than some of the 3* hotels! Location couldn't be faulted either as the hotel is close to the Cretaz chair lift and it was possible to ski back to within ~50m

Excellent location for the Cretaz chairlift. I guess this is what you pay for. A bit of a uphill walk to the gondola which takes you to Plan Maison, so we didn’t bother. You could get everywhere from the Cretaz lift.

Our room however was disappointing. We had a Standard room which was very basic, no TV (apparently only superior rooms have a TV). We had a shared balcony. The bathroom was small and the layout awkward (had to sit sideways on the toilet!).

The breakfast was ok (nice coffee), no hot breakfast options, which we knew already.

The evening meals and waiting staff were excellent (food good and plentiful). The salad buffet was basic, but you didn’t really need it!

The staff were all helpful, but you had to ask. Would have been nice to be told when we checked in, about the free WIFI and sitting room on the first floor (we were on 4th floor, so generally used the lift).

Also, there wasn’t really a bar. There was a counter with drinks behind, but nobody manned it, and I wouldn’t say there was a bar area; there were dining chairs and tables to sit at or the reception area.

Room Tip: Book a superior room!

My family of four spent two weeks at this lovely family-run hotel in Cervinia, Italy. The Hotel is situated on the main street, so is very central. With lots of snow, you can ski back home, at the most it is a 30m walk home. To the lifts, the walk is about 100m, so it is very conveniently situated. The rooms are comfortable, with lovely views of the mountains. A three course meal is served every night, with a choice of three starters, mains and dessert. The food was delicious, and plentiful. The service was excellent, with most of the family involved, in fact, we became friends with the owners, who were most helpful, and were able to offer us any advice we needed. I would highly recommend this hotel, and would love to return one day

We've just got back from an amazing week at the Hotel Marmore in Cervinia, which is run by a very friendly Italian family with wonderful and lovely staff who spoke very good English and treated us extremely well for the entire week. We booked it with Inghams just a week before as a last minute cheap deal. The Marmore really deserves more than it's 2* rating as the service and warm hospitality we received was first class and was on par with many of the 4* hotels we've stayed at over the years.

Our room was basic, simply furnished but very comfortable, of a really good size with plenty of space and was kept to a very high standard of cleanliness every day. The food served was was always excellent - traditional continental breakfast with various cereals, boiled eggs, ham/salami, sliced tomato, cheese, crusty bread rolls and even a toaster, a selection of breads, biscuits, help yourself to cappucino, coffee, tea, juice etc. The 3 course evening dinners were simple but always delicious, with a choice of 3 starters/mains followed by a scrumptious dessert, again 3 choices. Their Tiramisu was to die for and the waiters would always offer us seconds and we never refused!

The Marmore is in a great location, just a short 5-10 minute walk to the Cretaz chair lift and you can virtually ski back to within a few yards from the hotel. Our room had the most amazing view of the Matterhorn and we couldn't have wished for a better hotel to stay at for our first trip to Cervinia. Don't just take my word for it - this is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in and we highly recommend it. The photos on either Inghams or the Marmore's own websites really does not do it any justice, so I've included some I took during our stay so you can see for yourselves. We hope to return again to this fantastic hotel next year.

Just returned from a week skiing in Cervinia. We booked with Inghams on a ski deal so we did not know which hotel we would stay at.
The Marmore was fantastic. The staff are all very helpful and spoke excellant English. We arrived late on the first evening and were still served with an evening meal. There were 3 choices of starters, main and dessert each evening.
The rooms were simple but spacious and plenty of hot water. It was possible to ski to opposite the hotel (closer than most hotels which advertise ski to door!).
Many thanks to the staff and Whiskey (the dog) who made us feel very welcome and we hope to visit again soon
