too may times you read reviews of hotels where the comparison of service and quality is with regular visits to hotels of higher standards. when booking this hotel for a weeks ski with my wife we had both eyes open, and expected simple accommodation with some issues with its facilities etc, the brochures state the place has a gym, some say a fitness centre, it is not true, its is also not as good as the hotels own photo, there is now a jacuzzi (£5 a go) where the tired old treadmill and bike once stood, no now you have a box room with no windows and the remnants of some old kit a bull worker. the hotel rooms are a bit cold and the beds a bit uncomfortable but again its s simple three star hotel at the budget end of a ski break to a great area. now the positives and there is plenty. the food is great and the chef will accommodate you very well. the bar is very friendly and the owners so grateful of the custom. the owner does a private transfer to the ski lift each morning and breakfast is simple but hearty and plentiful with fresh juices and eggs etc. top tip is the hotel tv's are in italian but if you go into ski set up you can reset it for original which gives you mostly english programs, I checked with them and this is cool.
I would say this hotel represents good value and great service with some traditional italian food, just ask for some extra pillows and the heating to be turned on in your room, you will like it im sure.

Every seasoned traveller knows that it is the people you meet that make a truly great holiday experience. The family who run this hotel and the staff that work there made this a wonderful week for us. By the end of the holiday they felt like our family and we were really sorry to say goodbye.
This is not the smartest hotel in the world but it is very comfortable and homely. The food is both very good and plentiful. The Edelweiss is exceptional value for money and I would definitely recommend it.

We stayed at Edelweiss for a week in February and were really pleased with the place. its a small familyrun hotel, right outside center of Cervinia. The staff are in good mood and helpful.

Our purpose with our vacation was skiing, and the hotel was perfect for that; you buy skipasses in the reception, skibus every morning to the funiva when it suits you, great room for ski-storage with boot-heater and the hotel is located a short walk from the pistes/center when you get back in the afternoon.

The rooms are normal italian style, some might be a bit noisy due the traffic and machines clearing the snow in the morning (but thats a good sign, isn't it?). Bathroom are normal sized and clean, but the hot water could have been warmer. Small tv with mostly Italian channels.

The hotel still got a good restaurant with good food and wine. Vegetarian choice every day. If you choose halfboard, you get a 4 course menu to choose different dishes from. The breakfast is ok, there are two different meats to choose from, cheese, jam and honey. Cereal and youghurt are also provided.

The hotel got a small gym, steam-bath and sauna (the sauna was out of order). Nice bar and fireplace lounge. Slow internet computer in the lobby, WIFI in your room if you pay. We didnt try it out. Free parking 50 meters from the hotel. Shops and restaurants 50 - 200 meters from the hotel.

In Cervinia there are several places to eat and drink. Dragon Pub are for some reason the most popular after-ski place, luckily there are several places to get a drink. The pistes are great, and make sure you get a trip over to the Zermatt side. That gives you more choice if the weather changes on one side, but keep in mind that you have to get back over the border before the lifts closes!

Just returned from a superb weekend at Hotel Edelweiss. Great room ( we booked the delux room which was huge) on first floor. Delicious 4 course evening meal and breakfast was great. All the staff were welcoming and the family were very involved in the running of the hotel and couldn't do enough for us.
We have stayed in a few different hotels/appartments in Cervinia and this is the best so far. Shame its not nearer to the lifts as I am hopeless carrying skis etc but there is a free bus from the hotel, so its not really a problem.

My last report on this hotel was back in 2005. Time for an update...because of the success of earlier stays I've returned with large and small groups several times since then and I have to report that it still ticks all the right boxes. Very friendly staff and great facilities just a short walk from the centre of town (so no late night noise!) There's a free shuttle to the lift station every day and a great bar & restaurant.

The rooms are comfortable with satellite TV and we made good use of the steam room and sauna area.

Because of the wide variety of food on the menu there is something to suit most tastes. (Great cheese and wine too!)

The January 2009 trip was another great success and we've booked again for 2010 - can't wait!

We had chosen this hotel on the basis of rave reviews on Tripadvisor about the food. Sadly, there has been a change of chef and the standard now is adequate but nothing exciting, although one or two nights were of a better standard. The 'salad buffet' was simply three plain bowls of tomatoes, lettuce and red chicory, and the vegetarian offering was seemingly omelette (every night). Service by the two young waiters could not be faulted, however. Breakfast was basic but OK. We tried to like the hotel but there were too many irritating things wrong with it: Although our room did have a very comfy bed and TV (but no free English channels), the first night there was only very lukewarm water for bathing (after we complained via the rep this was attended to). The bathwater kept draining out, the phone was broken, the corridor lighting didn't work, the chambermaid had clearly been smoking in our (non-smoking) room The location is a long walk with skis and boots from the ski lifts, but a charming gentleman provided a free minibus service up each morning for the hotel guests. The bar/lounge was fine but could have done with being cosier (the only log fire is in the restaurant). The ski room was very basic (no heated boot rack). Our main problem was the extremely frosty attitude of the senior staff - we were made to feel unwelcome, as though they were doing us a massive favour (in taking our money). We are experienced travellers and have stayed in many ski resorts all over Europe but this is not a hotel we'd consider typical of Italy nor one we'd feel we want to rush back to.

Cervinia is a beautiful ski resort, and there are many small hotels.

I went to Cervinia with my fiancé and eight friends, and we all stayed at Hotel Edelweiss. It is a decent little hotel but definitely overpriced. The breakfast is bad (small selection of food, bad bread, etc), the service is so so, and the rooms have seen better days. The standard rooms are really small and some have an unpleasant smell of mould. The suites are better with a nice view but still overpriced.

The lady in the reception and the driver are very nice, but the overall service level is low. Worst of them all are the men serving breakfast -- they were so bad that we sometimes got a "Fawlty Towers feeling". One example: instead of helping a guest with the egg boiler, they stood 5 metres away and laughed at a guest getting burned! No service feeling at all.

We only had bed & breakfast, not half-board, but we talked to other guests who were really disappointed with the dinners.
