“a bit behind the times”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

The hotel is definitely ok but not really better than that. The decor is good quality but rather dated in style and the food was very ordinary. It seems as though the owners are running it the way that they have always done without looking round to see what other hotels are doing. It was the most expensive hotel of four that we stayed at on our trip down to Italy and back, and was definitely the least interesting of the four - and the food was least exciting - by a wide margin.

A great family run hotel which is located in a charming area of Cervinia, has bundles of charm and all the staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

The food is truly excellent and I have no reservations about recommending the hotel and personally I have been staying at the hotel for the last 10 years and have never been disappointed.

We are regular visitors to the Hermitage, and we really cannot praise the hotel highly enough. The service is top class, the accommodation delightful, and beautifully looked after. The restaurant never disappoints, both with the quality and variety of dishes, always impeccably cooked and served.

It also has a beautiful spa, again with five star service.

We do of course know the family very well now, but their kindness and the extraordinarily warm welcome that we receive, not only from them, but all of the staff, is truly exceptional.

Family owned hotel that makes you feel at home. The staff was the best, playing with the kids, helping us with everything. The food was excellent, we gained a few kilos. The bar was fantastic together with the staff.

Never in my life have I stayed at a hotel with such outstanding food. Absolutely stunning. The hotel itself is cozy, although as I went during skiing season I didn't sample the other facilities. The food is astounding. Service is excellent - attentive yet discrete. No other hotel has come close to this in my experience. Did I mention how truly incredible the food was?

Our family have been visiting this hotel annually for Easter for the last few years. The food is excellent, the service outstanding and the family run enviroment make this a home from home. The barman Pepe made us delicious cocktails and caupuccino's daily. The front of house staff are extremely obliging. The hotel owners deliver you everyday to the slopes in their mini bus and the service is very good. The hotel has maintained the same high standards and deserves the industry rating is gets. The ski schools are excellent in the area and the teachers are very kind and helpful. My boys are 8 and 9 and started as total beginners and can now ski very well. The hotel treats adults and children in an approriate manner and whether you want a romantic weekend or a family holiday the hotel is suitable. The transfer from Turin or Milan is very easy and this resort is a real gem for beginners or advanced skiers who like sophistication in a low key manner with delicious Italian food!

This lovely, welcoming hotel appears to be run by several generations of a family who are involved from the first greeting. This is a five star hotel where they make you feel comfortable whether you are cold and exhausted from the slopes, or expecting a classic, formal dinner. The staff are professional and the spa facilities are contemporary and quiet. The main reception area is full of squishy sofas, perfect for a post-ski hot-choc. There are clearly plenty of families visit every year who enjoy the traditional atmosphere created. However, the rooms, although spotless and cosy, are a bit tired and need their amenities upgraded: new towels, better bathroom fittings & lighting (no light in shower), quieter water pipes, dressing table/make-up area/desk.
All ages in our large group had a lovely time - the teenagers enjoyed the town and the little ones were indulged by the staff. Unfortunately, skiing to the larger area in Zermatt was not always possible due to weather closures, so we are unlikely to return to this lovely hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a lovely panoramic view.
