“A very good museum filled with history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

This castle is well worth a visit. The museum has many parts ranging from ancient Egypt to gothic art. We spent 3 hours in the castle, including the tour of Torre Acquila with its famous fresco cycle of the months of the year. These are stunning works from the 1390s.
A castle full of history.

“Extremely interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

This castello is well worth a visit especially the Torre dell'Aquila. Do pay the extra euro for the audio guide which gives a very clear explanation of the frescoes. There is a wonderful view from the terrace and ever changing displays of art in the display rooms. There are also several examples of the tiled stoves once common in homes in the area. Do not miss this when in Trento.

“Castello & Torre Aquila”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

We did only a quick visit to Trento on our way back from Alta Badia to Verona. This Castello was the only attraction we visited and it is definitely worth a visit.

The castello is nice with different exhibition rooms. The highlight of the castello is however the Torre Aquila. Worth paying an extra euro for a scheduled audio tour (available in english as in other languages as well). It must be for sure even nicer place to visit during the spring time when the weather is nice so you can better enjoy the inner court and gardens. During our visit it was raining and it was cold.

There is a parking lot next to the castle. Be careful where you park because half of the spaces are reserved (red zone) and you can park there only with a special permit.

“Enchanting castle, confusing exposition”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

The building is magnificient and so it is the view from the terrace (the tower was not accessible, but normally it is and the panorama must be really something) with most of the city of Trento sorrounded by the mountains. Althought the castle in itself is worth visiting, even paying (the ticket price was around 8 euros, but with several possibilities of reductions), I found the expositions set when I visited (the main one was "Sangue di drago e squame di serpente" dedicated to fantastical animals), very rich and interesting but not well dinstributed, or according to a logic that I didn't catch. Anyway the castle collected some very beautiful peace of art and accessories from several Italian museums focused on a curious theme, the one of strange animals, connected to the strong clerical interest in medieval times, topics than can raise more than a little curiosity and wish to do some research. The location is appropriate because of the consistent presence of animals and allegories on its frescos, so, all in all I have just a very little bit to complain and I heartily reccomend to go and see the castle.

“Nice museum set on castle grounds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

The entrance was included on the Trento Card. They had an interesting display of serpents, and mystical creatures on display throughout all the rooms through out the castle. Nice bathrooms you should use before you leave. They are hard to find in Trento and pretty much all of Europe.
